Walked in yesterday as someone local has recommended the place. I got a takeaway, - smashed avo and salmon on the side + coffee. The service was ok, plenty of seating and quite a cosy furniture. The food was lovely, bread was actually properly toasted with the butter, generous amount of avocado and smoked salmon. The coffee tasted ok too, nothing extraordinary. It was great to see a paper box and wooden cutlery for takeaways. Why not 5 stars: people sitting in the cafe were literally yelling when talking to each other (all males), that was so loud! And because the staff addressed them by names, I assume they were regulars and hence are allowed to do what they want. That had deterred me from having a meal inside and made me order a takeaway instead. It would be literally impossible to hear each other if you were to catch up with a friend. Not a particularly comfortable atmosphere. I also was surprised the cafe doesn't have Hollandaise sauce, I had to ask mayo instead, - maybe a suggestion for future improvement. I'd be keen to try other cafes around before recommending this one.

1st review Very friendly small cafe within the Ipswich CBD. Not a lot of seating inside, so maybe hard to eat in if you are with a large group of people. We really like the coffee here and find it consistently good. We both had the Mojo wrap, and while the wrap doesn't photo really well it was very tasty and did not disappoint. Reasonably priced. Would certainly recommend. 2nd review, got a takeaway Acai bowl and was very disappointed. The bowl was only slightly over half full and fruit was slightly brown in colour with about a tablespoon of coconut yoghurt. I didn't want to get rid of my initial review as I am generally really happy with the food at Oikos. Not sure if we got them on an off day but would not recommend Takeaway Acai bowls.

Successful reinvention of a tired business space. The energy of love shows in everything from Oikos, taking a dilapidated space and filling it with warm decor and industrial accents to create a loyal community of customers. Respect and culture are a powerful factor in rebranding a space and making it your own. This is exactly what the new owners have achieved over the past couple of years. This local business is also community active contributing space for Down2Earth charity. Space inside is limited with outside seating and takeaways. You won't be disappointed by the personalised service and finesse in everything from the coffee to the food. Impressed with our entire experience, thank you!

Official BCB Score - 4.1

Out of the 7 members of the Bawston Cawfee Box, 7 people enjoyed coffees today. We took an average between the individual score and came to a consensus of 4.1 stars taking into account taste, texture, experience with staff, and price. The coffee today had a very strong peristalsis effect of 5 minutes proving their coffees to be delicious and having that extra bit of wake up juice we all need in the morning. With a rustic look Oikos cafe was a fantastic experience in a fantastic location for a local business looking to strive. Unfortunately the review doesn’t allow half stars thus having to score 4/5

Bawston Cawfee Box is a crew of coffee enthusiasts located in Ipswich, we support local businesses and are dedicated to try every coffee...
