Underwhelming. Overpriced.
Wish I read the review before going.
When I saw that Stellarossa was participating in the Nicholas St. Precinct dinosaur event by having dinosaur themed meals, I thought it would be great to take my son after seeing the dinosaurs and finishing off with a themed meal!
I am genuinely disappointed. It was not overly busy when we arrived just before 1PM. We ordered the dinosaur nuggets with chips, dinosaur jelly, a toasted sandwich with a side of chips and an iced coffee. I could not believe the price - over $45 for that! The prices are way overpriced and when we got our meal, I was even more horrified by the quantity. Definitely not a cost-friendly organisation.
As we sat, the time kept ticking away. At 35 minutes of waiting, I went and asked for a time frame, explaining how long we had been waiting. I was told it would be ready within 5 minutes. Although it had not even been started. It did not arrive for well over 10 minutes. It is an excessive amount of time for a pre-made jelly with a scoop of ice cream, a pre-made sandwich which only needed toasting and some dinosaur nuggets and chips! When we did get it, it was bland and underwhelming, definately not worth the money!
The gentleman behind the counter blamed how busy it was, although there was not that many people. Definately not warranting that kind of wait. Front counter staff should have really informed customers of a wait like that. Although they really didn't seem to know what was going on. Having an event in the prescient, perhaps having adequate staff and processes in place may have avoidedt this.
I feel that in the best interest of this organisation, serious training and professional development needs to occur in order for their staff to be able to manage time, multi-task orders and have the capability to get meals out in a timely fashion.
First and last time. We will not be going back. Very...
Read moreI have been visiting this cafe occasionally since it opened, generally because it's been conveniently located and it's open on Sundays and most cafes in the precinct are not. We generally order coffee, hot chocolate at the orange and almond cake. All are fine/passable.
Unfortunately there is a man who always seems to be at this cafe and he has been consistently impatient, snappy and generally awful to us. My children have allergies and asking about ingredients at this place has not been a good experience. I once asked about the ingredients of a mango frappe, specifically if it was dairy free. He made a whole scene about it and after we had ordered and sat down he brought out this large cardboard box with a big package of mango frappe powder in it. I expressed my surprise as I thought it would just be frozen fruit, milk and ice or something like that, not a powder added to water. He was very cranky about this and told me that this is what everyone does. It's not a big deal and left it a huff. I was quite embarrassed.
Just this weekend I visited the cafe with friends from out of town. It was the only place open. His manner was just so rude I actually felt ashamed to have taken my lovely friends there. They deserved better, and so do we. The cafe was not busy. There was nobody waiting. Staff don't need to express frustration or be impatient. We were not dawdling or wasting his time. We were just being human and looking in the cabinet for snacks.
The young women who work there have always been kind. Sadly I have also seen him being incredibly rude to them.
Fortunately there are now many other lovely options in the precinct. I will make a point of never returning to this one.
Also, please don't feel the need to cut and paste the reply that's added to the other negative reviews here. We can tell management doesn't mind him...
Read moreReally wanted to like this place as first few visits were great, but the last few visits over the last few weeks have been disappointing to say the least. The first few visits, I was served by a lovely female staff member who doesn't appear to work there anymore. Now there is some younger redhead rude female who needs to be educated in what good customer service is all about. She comes across as disrespectful, has a "can't be bothered" air about her and I feel is purposely getting orders wrong. Perhaps the owner should check she's not trying to run his business into the ground. Also agree with another earlier review in that they seem to take forever to warm up or toast food. I have only started working in the area and when I returned to work and expressed to a colleague my frustration at the long wait and bad service, I was informed by her that they have a reputation for being so bad and that she herself was warned by others not to go there...wish someone had warned me too. As I walked out with my 'wrong' order (they took so long with it I had no choice but to head back to work), another customer actually walked in asking for the manager a number of times whilst holding a takeaway order he received and he was clearly unhappy. He then started pulling food out so one can only assume they got his order wrong too. No surprises there...Definitely won't be a...
