Many points for efficient service at this Greco/Mediterranean restaurant. The meals and wine arrived in good time and were delicious, the ambience was warm & cheerful, the seats were comfortable (no hard wood or metal chairs here!) and the waitstaff and supervisors were polite, cheerful, helpful and very attentive. The salt and chilli squid was as perfectly cooked as it's possible for squid to be - soft and juicy in a light and crispy batter. The one and only thing that was a letdown (for us) was that the chilli was about 500 on the Scoville scale (i.e. barely there). We prefer 20,000 to 30,000. We finished up applying the cracked pepper with reckless abandon resulting in salt and pepper squid instead, which, given the delectable squid, was no bad thing. Our delightful waitress (who had an engaging accent that we couldn't place, and turned out to be Nepalese) was clearly fully appraised of the subtleties of greek cuisine, informed us that they had originally served the squid with a modestly warm chilli, but too many people complained that it was too hot. It's a mystery why anyone would order a meal containing chilli if they don't actually like chilli. The only other dish we ordered was herbed lemon potatoes - a new idea to us, and my beloved was a little taken aback (at first) at the unusual concoction. It's a little like having your mouth ready for regular potatoes and finding that you're actually eating a lemon. Once the first piece has been eaten, we wondered why we'd never come across this before - it just...

Impressive cafe, great food & some of the best coffee I have had in Launceston. From the moment you walk in the door, you can smell the house roast is of a high standard, and the barista knows how to make a great coffee. The meals are of a very high standard, and they use quality produce, and the prices are very reasonable, my wife also loved the cocktails she indulged in they were made to perfection. Our waitress, Mikayla was amazing, very warm, brilliant with her service & attentive at all times, she made our experience a very memorable one, and we look forward to returning because it is hard to find good people that are so welcoming in many places we have visited in Launceston. It was a shame to witness a table of men, that were treating our waitress so badly, and with so much disrespect, disgusting actually, but to see this young woman handle it with such grace & elegance was also very encouraging at the same time when it’s hard enough to get full time employment today, to come to work each day to face this from customers who should have more wisdom, as well as maturity, towards our youth today, so a very BIG SHOUT...

Glad I discovered Elaia Café, I have been looking for a Launceston Café for late afternoon meet ups. My experience at other Cafes has been not that great as most close around 3 and nearly push you out the door so they can close. After several visits I have found the staff extremely helpful and polite, great Coffee and food being served in a cosy and warm atmosphere. Opening Hours are from early till late serving all day breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Along with good coffee as a licenced venue; wine, beer and spirits can be ordered as well. I have found It a good place to chill any time of the day, not only is it the best coffee location for me, as it is a café Restaurant, I am looking forward to trying some of their other menu items including steak, Pizza, pasta, seafood, risotto dishes and desserts. When looking for places to eat in Launceston, trying to find brunch near you or seeking a local dinner location, don’t miss...

Elaia has been around for a long time and I've had many a breakfast or lunch date there over the years. However i hadn't dined there now in quite some time and decided to book a ladies dinner catch up for 7 people last Saturday. The menu is now Greek and what a wonderful display of Greek food it was!!! Everything was so flavoursome and delicious. The serving sizes were very generous too! I don't think anyone was able to eat everything off their plate. 2 of us decided to do the Greek feast $70 set menu. It was amazing! Basically we got to try a bit of everything off the menu including dessert! I would definitely recommend to give Elaia a try, even if you have been there in the past, because the new Greek menus are fantastic! I don't think there are any other places in Launceston doing Greek cuisine either so it's definitely filling a void.

I must say, it was a delightful experience. The pasta and vegetarian pizza I ordered for lunch were simply outstanding. The pasta (Carbonara pasta made with a creamy combination of eggs, cheese, bacon, garlic, parmesan and a sprinkle of parsley $29.90) was cooked to perfection, with a rich and flavorful sauce that had just the right amount of seasoning. The vegetarian pizza (with spinach, mushrooms, red onion, olives, fetta $25.90 v/vgo) was a delightful medley of fresh vegetables and a perfectly crisp crust. The attention to detail in each dish was evident, and the flavors truly shone through. The service was impeccable, and the ambiance of the cafe added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. I highly recommend Elaia Cafe for anyone looking for great food in Launceston.

Went to Launceston for a conference and just loved that real local, warm friendly atmosphere that Launceston has to offer. Elaia Cafe/Restaurant is the epitome of all the wonderful feeling Launceston has to offer. After a few disaster restaurants nearby Elaia was a refreshing change. I managed to experience breakfast, lunch and dinner over the 4 days and it is wonderful how they can change the vibe for each occasion. I got addicted to their squid dish, you can see the chef has a passion for creating dishes that are fresh and full of flavour. Service was friendly and they had some great local Pinots on the menu. Tasmania has some of the best and so does this restaurant.
