We arrived early Friday evening and was told as we sat down that the table was already booked even though there was no reserved sign on the table. One of the staff then told us we could sit at the bar and order food there. We did that as we are on holiday from Melbourne in a motorhome (5 of us) and we were starving after an outdoor activities the whole day and could not be bothered to find another restaurant. A while later our food came one after another and one of the dish was room temperature. My wife took it back to the staff that it was not OK to serve room temperature food that was supposed to be hot. A while later the manager came back that the kitchen ran out of pesto. Our daughter was beyond hungry and just ask for some chips as it hopefully would be quick to serve. It came after the manager refunded the initial dish. Coming to a weekend and running out of pesto? The chef need to learn how to order supply for the weekend. Review about the food. The lamb pizza was great, zingy and full of flavour. On the other hand the slow pork pizza lacked of flavour and a bit bland. Pasta carbonara just taste creamy garlic, lacked of Parmesan, egg and seasoning. Fettuccine pesto, well we didn't get it. Ran out of pesto, remember? Ambience: great. A pizzeria with an Aussie pub feel. Plenty of beer to choose from and small selection of wines. But where's the Tassie wine, not on the list unfortunately. I gave 3 starts for ambience and theme, not for the food. I'd like to see some improvement in the food area....
Read moreThe pizza pub is iconic, it has been the best pizza around Launceston for many years and remains a staple for many of my friends and acquaintances, their service and delivery packages as well as the options for different pizzas and sides have never let me down and it's never a bad experience, no matter how many times we visit other pizza places and try new things, we always come back to the good old pizza pub. I know and many of my fellow launcestoners and people from the whole state and interstate understand that the pizza pub is a monument within Launceston and surrounds, and even under different management throughout the years there has never been a bad experience at the pub and even when there has been mistakes the service always makes up for it as they're only human and care for the customers with quality products and service. I hope the pizza pub remains the perfect little icon that it always had been. I think everyone would agree that the pizza pub never had a dull moment and is historically significant within the Launceston community and I commend them for their outstanding ability to overcome challenges through the covid crisis and to remain a unique experience for takeaway and dine in. Hands down best pizza joint...
Read moreThe pizza was nice, but the service was terrible. No one greeted us once we came in, we were given no instruction on where to sit or what their procedure was. All of the tables were dirty so we just took a seat on one with some plates and glasses and moved those to the other end of the table. We went up to the bar and ordered, then sat back down. We had easily 3 staff members walk past our dirty table and they cleaned empty tables instead, I didn’t really understand the logic there but anyway.. it wasn’t until we got our food and we asked for it to be cleaned that the girl realised, she apologised and cleaned it for us so that was all okay. It’s nothing against the staff members themselves because they were all nice people, I think they just need to make some changes to some of their processes because everything was a bit unorganised and dirty. If the service was improved this place would easily get 4 or 5 stars. The pizza was nice enough and we happened to come in on half price night, which was a...
