Super friendly staff and fast service! I have tried a large range of their sweet and savoury options. What I ordered plus what I personally recommend (5 out of 13 items) listed below;

πŸ” SAVOURY ⭐Lamb sausage roll Absolutely loved the lamb sausage roll! Can definitely taste the lamb, crunchy buttery pastry and definitely pairs nicely with relish.

⭐ House-made spiced chickpea roll If you love the taste of masala + chickpeas and would love something filling, this would be the roll for you! Can definitely be eaten without relish and tastes great!

Lamb pie (pie of the day) Crunchy buttery and soft pastry, saucy and enjoyable even without relish

Breakfast roll A classic mini breakfast burger, a bit larger than a Macca's cheeseburger (in bread bun height) but simple and what you would expect from a milk bun, egg, bacon + relish burger.

Beef pastrami sandwich A very filling sandwich layered with lettuce, mayo, mustard, cheese and beef pastrami. If you're looking for a quick, easy, no-mess meal this would be the way to go.

πŸ₯ PASTRIES ⭐ Walnut croissant Absolutely amazing! Loved the walnut filling and crunchy walnut covered croissant exterior. Highly recommend this! It is sweet (but not too sweet that you would get sick of it) and the croissant is very crunchy, topped with a bit of icing sugar.

Butter croissant A classic croissant, very simple and buttery in flavour if you are looking for something plain and simple.

Cranberry sweet Danish Shame the cranberry + crushed pistachio topping was limited to the centre, definitely a nice sweet topping. The pastry is very crunchy and buttery.

Pumpkin feta Danish Can never go wrong with a pumpkin feta combo, shame it was limited as a topping, otherwise the pastry was still enjoyable, a crunchy and buttery exterior.

🍰 CAKES Bostock The combination of a French toast and almond croissant. Bostock's texture is similar to a dense sponge cake with a thin marmalade filling.

⭐ Pistachio cake A dense sponge cake soaked with a light syrup and has a strong punch of pistachio flavour, if you were to try a cake I'd recommend this one.

πŸͺ COOKIES Salted choc chip cookie A classic chocolate chip cookie, the pinch of sea salt helps accentuate the chocolate flavour.

⭐ Oatmeal raisin cookie Loved the oatmeal raisin cookie 😁 Not overly sweet and the raisins are definitely a nice touch! Out of the two cookies, I'd easily go for seconds for...

We went to purchase savoury and sweet options for lunch on 27th December at 1:10om We could purchase as much food as we wanted, choose if we wanted to sit in to eat or TA. We ordered food then ordered coffee. We were told that they stop making coffee at 1pm!!?! That is the strangest thing we've ever heard of for a patisserie / coffee shop. If you are serving food and permitted to eat in surely it's reasonable that coffee is served too.

Edit : Your response to my review was unnecessarily judgemental and aggressive. You suggesting I haven't lived a fulfilling life is incredibly inappropriate. I notice you have subsequently removed that post however. Hopefully you realised how inappropriate your comments were. I didn't say it was a "rule" to serve coffee if you are serving food. I was not told you closed at 1pm. Likely it would have made a big difference to my perception of your business if I was. As a result of your peevish response I read all of your responses to 1 star posts and I've come to the conclusion that you do not like receiving feedback that can be construed negatively. You have a tendency to react quickly, aggressively and thoughtlessly. You try to make amusing comments but rather they are just passive aggressive responses. You appear to intentionally want to debase your customers and myself.

Edit 2 - I did not set up a new account, rather I edited my first post. Once again you are disproportionately aggressive in your response and you've proceeded to edit your original post.

Enough. Once again you are attempting to debase. You consistency alter and edit your responses.

Please enough. Stop. Over and over again you harangue. You're making me laugh now - using the same words as I. You couldn't think of another word for harangue, hey?!

As owners you should be less aggressive to your patrons, even ex-patrons.

Edit 3 I think your frequent updated responses are bordering on harassment. Please stop editing your posts without transparency. This was a simple issue which, as a result of and unfortunately due to your aggressive stance, illustrates your approach to your Launceston community and patrons.

Edit 4 video footage, photo behind the counter, obtaining my contact details, legal action .... good God.... you're so ridiculous it's funny 😁

I wish you all the best and success moving forward and hope that in the future you treat your patrons with some...

TLDR: The croissants here are perfect, flaky, chewy outside, soft, airy, honeycomb inside that melts away with beautiful buttery richness. Best croissant in Australia? Could well be, I'm not an expert but I've had Lune and travelled through France, and these are right up there. And very good coffee. Waitresses got a bit confused, but no big deal with mistakes quickly remedied. Very reasonable prices.

We ordered two with butter and jam, and a ham and cheese and a plain cheese to start, plus coffees and hot chocolates. Coffees were really good, nice rich and complex flavour that perfectly matched the creamy milk. Hot chocolate was a bit standard but good enough.

The kids insisted on getting seconds (which is high praise from two fussy eaters), so we followed up with four plain croissants for the road, plus one chocolate and one walnut. The kids also had another ham and cheese, and a plain cheese out front.

One area for improvement was the food delivery. Both times we ordered, part of our order ended up going to the wrong table, or not being delivered at all. That was despite a waitress checking on us and confirming what was outstanding. The first time we were able to overhear our order being given to the wrong customers and we sorted it out. The second time I had to go back to the counter and ask for the items takeaway. Like I said, no big deal and there's probably a reason such as a new waitress. Certainly didn't ruin the food and the person behind the counter made good by giving me the missing items takeaway without question.

I thought the prices were pretty reasonable. $60 for us each to have a brekkie croissant and a drink, and $60 for 8 croissants (4 fancy, 4 plain) takeaway.. for the quality,...

We had a lovely rhubarb pastry and also enjoyed the coffee and juice. Service was good and we were happy to wait a bit longer given it was packed and pouring outside. We are from Sydney so used to seeing inflated pricing, even then $12.50 for a ham and cheese croissant seemed a fair bit and we were surprised to see just how small it was. Unfortunately the first bite filled my mouth with oil and it soaked through both our napkins (second one pictured) and was still inedible. A shame considering the ham and cheese were yummy and the other pastry was very well done. Edited to add: Wow, what a lashing out in the response. Apologies if it was misunderstood that I was making a relative comparison on the cost of living index of Sydney vs. Launceston where $12.50 is steep for a ham and cheese croissant the size of my palm in any regard. I gave credit where due but comparisons to Pepe Saya, which we have long bought and loved since discovering at Carriageworks 10 years ago, are laughable! Original 3 star review reduced due to being absolutely savaged by owner for sharing an opinion πŸ˜‚

5 words to describe this place - omg, the bread and butter!! 🀀 We've seen a few of their locations sprinkled around Launceston, so we knew that we had to come here and we weren't disappointed. Bread and butter takes pride in making sure the foundations of your meal - the bread and butter - are absolutely perfect. To call it delicious is a disservice; it's carb-heaven. Every meal was subsequently perfect and paired great with their coffees and juices. Combine that with ingredients and sauces which can be purchased on site (another thing I'm a sucker for) and you have one of my favourite breakfast places The thing you need to be prepared for is that they sell out of things, which they tell you themselves. It's the curse of popularity and making things fresh. Get here early, that's my advice; also, definitely take a croissant with you
