How does this get all 5 star reviews? $9 for very tiny pastry, nowhere to sit inside. Coffee had burnt taste. After initially posting this I realised I have to tip out the coffee, undrinkable.
Later....as I don't find a way to reply to the owner's reply I feel compelled to add this now. Their response to my honest feedback was truly shocking - see below. Resorting to personal insults etc. Reality is I arrived at the cafe in a positive mood but when I noticed that nothing had a price publicly displayed I became suspicious, it's never a good sign. It was only necessary to 'go through the menu with me' because no prices were on display. (I asked the price of only 3 items but clearly this was too much effort in terms of service?) Each price took my breath away but I had already ordered the coffee so had to stick with it. Initially I heard $9.50 for the coffee and had only asked at all because even when paying there was no price visible to me as the customer. I did not return to the shop with the undrinkable coffee because due to there being no seating inside and it being rather a chilly day to sit outside I had already crossed a busy road and walked to the zig zag track, sipping a few times along the way to be sure that it really was that bad. Never thrown out a coffee before but simply had to this time. As for referring to me as a 'keyboard warrior', well please take the time to read my other google reviews. You will note that I very rarely make reviews at all, and that this is the first time I've ever been compelled to share a negative experience on Google. I did so to potentially save others the same shock that I had after specifically ignoring many other cafes along the way to get to this 'only 5 star reviews' place. I remain confused about that but clearly others have had much better experiences so I wish you and all other small businesses here and elsewhere the best of success. But I do suggest that you consider more carefully before attacking customers personally in response to their honest but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a quaint little place on Margaret Street serving up good coffees and a nice selection of healthy and veg friendly foods. Opening hours are 6.30am to 2.30pm (Tues to Fri) and 7.30am to 1.30pm (Sat), closed Sundays and Mondays. There are a few small tables outside at Flying Sparrow so be ready for take-away if full up when you arrive.
We stopped by here recently and picked up a falafel wrap and spinach roll along with coffees. Food items were nicely packaged with jam, apple slices and salty crisps. We took them into the nearby Cataract Gorge where we really enjoyed everything served. Both were skilfully prepared and tasted very, very good. Coffees were just fine as well.
Service was really friendly, prices reasonable as well. Really enjoyed our take-away order from Flying Sparrow and would gladly visit again to eat in or do take-away next time in Launceston....

Literally just inhaled the ādefraggedā Shepherds Pie - I honestly think this is one of the best meals I have had in Tasmania so far. Including some of the fine dining restaurants weāve been to.
Everything was cooked perfectly, delicious balance with of all the flavours / lamb and tasted so healthy.
