In spite of what happened this morning ill give it a 2, i am sure all the other staff are lovely! Visited today as visiting for work, to buy for a small group and thought I'd save the very nice guy serving me the time of explaining the menu. So he wouldn't think i was being rude, i just said no need to explain your menu, i know how juicebars work as i owned one for 5 years. I always mention this, as i loved my business and i feel like i am with my people whenever i visit a juicebar. The entire time id been joking with him about the cold as i am from QLD and my jovial manner hadn't altered once, i was friendly and respectful joking about being dressed like an eskimo and i commented on what a beautiful place it was and so glad i found them as we are here for a few weeks, healthy eats are harder to find. Nek minute, i will assume it was the owner appeared and ask if i intended to order a drink and he told me that today i had better find somewhere else then. Thinking he was joking, i continued to stand at the counter. He asked me where i was from and how long i was staying, to which he replied, so, you know how these places work do you he said it kinda snarky, so i looked at the young guy behind the counter again and he seemed kinda of embarrassed, so it started to click something was up. I was very confused This guy was basically bouncing me from his business! i asked what i had done... silly i know, shoulda just walked. He said his staff member was just trying to do his job and i had made derogatory comments. In shock i tried to explain that that was definitely not my intention AT ALL, but he just said today, no juice for you, but come back another time.... yup, exactly what he said. I turned and apologised to the young man who tried to served me, but i am not completely sure if he was just mortified at what just unfolded infront of him. I knew what i wanted, i was simply trying to save time and bother for him! But anyways, i found somewhere else that can look after as for 3 weeks, so all.good. Sir, i am not sure what was up today. I know business has been so tough for the last few years, but no way i can recommend your...
Read moreMy 12 year old and I got a lesson from a local business on Saturday. We were out for a walk, we were parched and she asked to get a drink from Juice Bar Fifty Five. The intense decision making finally reached it's conclusion and she decided she wanted a number 2 juice with an add on of passionfruit (her favourite) at $2.50. We sat outside to wait for our drinks and when they came out we were told that the exact order she'd made - a number 2 with passionfruit was actually the same as another juice option on their menu and so they had already refunded us the $2.50 we'd paid (and they also added on a straw of fruit on top at no extra cost). There was no reason for them to do this - we would have had no idea we'd paid an extra $2.50 and while it seems like a small amount it was a brilliant lesson for my daughter to see that integrity means doing the right thing even when you have nothing to gain from it and no one will know if you do nothing. We spoke about it for a long time afterwards and it really sunk in. So thank you Juice Bar Fifty Five - it's nestled away down at Seaport before the Boathouse - please support them if you...
Read moreWalked past many times before stopping, but am very glad I finally did. Proprietor is very welcoming and really goes all out to make you feel welcome, and introduced me to the ginger shot. He also found a dog treat for my best mate, so big brownie points there!
Called in again this morning for a juice and a muffin. When it arrived, it was bedecked with gorgeous fresh fruit and two forks…correctly surmising I might be sharing with my four legged buddy.
Really can’t fault this establishment at all. Prices are a little high relative to other places, perhaps, but I think the gold star service and the little touches of garnishing more than justify it.
My dog and I will be back to bask in the sun and sip a delicious juice soon! Alas, my photo does not really do justice to this morning’s experience. Will try to get a better...
