So I went through the drive through at Zambrero York St. The girl I spoke to to order sounded distracted and I could hear people laughing in the background so as I would say something there would be a huge gap before she would respond. Then I waited about ten minutes for the guy in from tof me to get his order, which looked to be only a small bowl. Then I waited a further 10-15 minutes for my food which was only a small burrito.
The store did not look busy.
Now the food, the meat and corn salsa where great as usual 10/10. BUT the rice was almost completely raw in parts, it felt like it had maybe been soaked in water, not cooked, it didn't even look particially cooked. I thought they had forgotten the sourcream because I didn't taste any until the bottom maybe 3-4 centimetres of the burrito. And there was ALOT of the white bitter parts of the lettuce and not much actual leaf. It was put together so poorly it spilled a little when I opened it and the foil covering was so poorly done also that when it was handed to me it started unwrapping.
The girl who served me at the window didn't even look at me, say hello, nothing, she spoke to the floor when she said how much it was and I barely heard her.
Is the entire building filled with trainees?? Because this would be the only even slightly acceptable reason.
I've been through this drive through before, the first time was perfect no problems. The second time I asked for ONLY corn salsa and no jalapenos but got the lot anyway. This time I stupidly thought I'd give it another go and just let me say, I will never use it again cause my lunch...
Read moreOh boy, it was a struggle finding an open Mexican eatery at quarter to four in the afternoon on the Frist Friday after the new year here at Launceston. But I can tell you without hesitation that Zambrero exceeded beyond expectations.
The restaurant itself is very spacious and offers ample seating. The place was cooled to a comfy 20s which was perfect on the day we went. Service delivery by the staff was exceptional. Brittany fulfilled my order of Nachos professionally, carrying out my specifications while offering great suggestions of toppings and heating method. She was very personable and quick about things and before I knew it the order was all done and I pretty much scoffed the meal down. The ingredients were crisp and fresh. Loved the crunch of the tortilla chips and tomato salsa. Guacamole was fresh and the melted cheese delectable.
One serving wasn't enough as I enjoyed my experience so much so I actually ordered an additional order of the very same bowl of Nachos. This time served by Curtis who was friendly, efficient and professional. Great service delivery and scoffed the second bowl down in minutes.
If you want your tex mex craving sated and experience a Subway-level of customisation and ingredient freshness (actually think Zambrero is better) then look to further than Zambrero Launceston. You will not be...
Read moreOver the years, I've been to many Mexican fast-food restaurants around Australia and it was my very first experience at Zambrero. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered a power bowl, which says on the menu it has more fillings than the other options. After my first bite, I noticed pretty flavourless guacamole, a huge amount of lettuce to pad it out and zero beans on my bowl. I spoke to the staff, which quickly added refried beans to my bowl. Considering it's the price of $14.40, I expected a much better delivery. I know in Launceston Zambrero doesn't have its competitors GYG, MadMex or even TacoBell as yet but you guys should step up before the competition comes and steals...
