It all started one day I was driving towards Eight Mile Plains and got caught at an intersection. I looked over and spotted “smokehouse” and thought - you beauty only a short 10-15 min from home so next time I’m feeling like it I’ll stop by. Fast forward a couple of weeks and the family decided to eat out and suggestions were on the table. Sushi train, one said and I said BBQ and checking google maps it line up perfectly. Sushi train next door to Smokehouse. So off we went. Should have checked the reviews quickly and in order of 1 star to 5.
Red flags that say you could be in wrong place.
Upon entry and looking at the menu, I asked if we could order just the meat portion as I and like most are there for the mouth watering beef brisket or beef short ribs.
They had trouble trying to work out per 100gms portion of the brisket and or just a beef shorty.
Another red flag was not knowing the term beef shorty.
Then asking which part of the brisket is used and replied all.
I had my doubts here as most BBQ places will serve up per 100gms portion if asked at fair price.
The pricing was expected for the type of food and location. Moving forward and at home time to dig in.
Wait… why is my brisket dry and taste over smoked. Why is the edges burnt? How can I eat this with no fat rendering through and like it has been sitting for a long time. Ok I’ll try some chips. Hang on the taste is like old oil, not crisp and just ok nothing great. The coleslaw was tasty and probably the best thing in the plate.
Ok, open the shortys, oh hang on what this solid flank of a piece of meat just on top surely they don’t try to serve this. You cannot even tear it apart with your hand.
Look some bones maybe this is going to be the saving moment. Oh no more disappointment as the amount of excess fat that should have been trimmed made up the majority of this meal. What was meant to be approx 300gms of meat for each plate needed up only with around 50gms of actual meat to eat.
Next time and I should have listened to my partner and went to the site for some BBQ off Frankenstein IYKYK.
If it’s dry don’t serve it.
If the oil is old change it.
Stop in to other BBQ places and see what they are like, have a meal and compare to yours.
If you notice anything different change and be the competition to them.

We ordered a big order cost $122.99. Triple cheese burger Double cheese burger OG hotdog Lamb shoulder roll And Wagyu Burger
We asked 4 of them to be a meal and the Wagyu burger to be a sandwich by itself.
Upon opening the order at home, we found only 2 chips and the rest were all sandwiches by themselves.
1- The cheese burgers:
Burger was not juicy at all. Rather it was burnt from edges.
Chips were cold , burnt and extremely dry. Very obvious they prepared it morning and kept it the rest of the day and when we ordered at 4:30pm, they just chucked the remaining chips in the order.
2- The hotdog:
Not much difference from the chips. Skin was hard and you need muscle teeth to chew it. Bread was like 2 days old.
3- The lamb shoulder Roll:
That was the worst of the worst. Meat was absolutely cold. Taste was aweful.
4- We ordered cheese sauce to the side. It was so liquidy that you hardly believe it’s a sauce. I doubt any cheese was there because after 1 hour it was still liquidy.
Overall experience was horrible. We have been mislead by the too many fake comments about the delicious food.
I tried to call the restaurant on the number advertised on the maps in order to ask for a refund. But even this was a fail as their phone is not working or connecting at all.
Long story short…. They really need to look after the service and quality. Otherwise, stay away
Update: I’ve sent an email to the owner as he asked in the reply to my review and still awaiting...
Read moreSuper average service.. was looking forward to some brisket as I heard good things about the meat here. So I ordered a brisket box and a quarter chicken box for my partner. A few minutes later the chef comes out and lets us know we they have no brisket left. Alright that sucks but no dramas, I’ll get a refund and come back another day for this banging brisket.. no.. the chef tries to push me into buying something else after repeatedly repeating myself that I did not want what he was offering.. despite this he then says he cannot give me a refund.. long story short it took him about 20 minutes to contact his boss who told him to refund my money which now the next day still hasn’t hit my account.. they also weren’t able to provide a receipt of proof of refund… super poor service.. very disappointing as I’ve been following Amin on socials and was super keen on trying the food I heard nothing but good things about.. poor service and don’t think...
