During an Easter escapade to the charming town of Lorne, my taste buds led me on a quest to the legendary Milk Bar, where rumors of their famed pizza slices had reached my ears. Each slice, priced at a princely sum of $8, beckoned with the promise of gastronomic joy.
But lo! When I sought to amass a treasure trove of 8 slices, thereby conjuring a full pizza from the culinary ether, I was met with a demand for $60! A twist in the tale that left my wallet lighter and my spirit in disbelief. In the realm of Melbourne, such a feast could be had for a mere $20, making this price a dragon guarding its hoard rather than a fair maiden.
This tale, though filled with flavor, carries a note of caution for travelers far and wide. The holiday spell cast upon the prices at Milk Bar may lead adventurers to part with gold aplenty. While the quest for pizza by the slice is noble, one must ponder if the cost of the full pie is but a trick of the light—a mirage in the desert of holiday pricing.
Dear Milk Bar, your slices hold the magic of convenience and taste, yet the potion of pricing seems brewed in the cauldron of extravagance. Let us find a middle ground where dragons and knights dine together, and patrons leave feeling like the heroes of their own stories, not the victims of a holiday heist.
May this tale serve as a map for future negotiations at the counter, leading to treasures that are fair and just for all. Here’s to more adventures and less perilous pricing at Milk Bar!

Read moreNot usually one to write negative reviews, but this one was very much merited. Could not more strongly advise avoiding this establishment. My friends and I ordered single ice cream scoops here and were appalled at the prices we paid for the amount we received. Not only can you expect to pay a ridiculous $7.50 for a single scoop, but be prepared to receive mere shavings of ice cream that barely cover the bottom of the cup. The ice cream itself tasted watered down and inauthentic. My friends also received the same average tasting serving size, so this was clearly the expected service.
It is absolute ludicrous and a complete scam to be charging people such exorbitant money for a laughable excuse of a serve. Only a few minutes up the road are at least two other ice cream establishments that serve far better...
Read moreWould give zero stars if I could. The staff (2x women) were so rude to myself and my daughters. Over the top rude. Even other customers were looking at them in disbelief. Their prices are obscene! $8.50 for a single scoop!! For a family of 4, that's $32!! Do yourself a favour and go to Gelato Gelato just a few shops further along. They sell ice cream as well as gelato, so don't let the name put you off. Their staff are friendly and patient and very polite, and their prices are a far more reasonable $5.50. I go to Lorne several times a week and I can guarantee you I will never again set foot in the disgusting Lorne Ice Cream (super creative name, too, by the way. You must have spent a good 3 minutes coming up...
