Doing the Great Ocean Road, I was told to visit Lorne on the way I did, spent more time visiting that I imagined I would need, and realized it would then be better to spend the night there Then came the question of dinner I checked online for options, and The Larder looked like it would be the one And I am so glad I went for it First, location is convenient, at the entrance of Lorne coming from Melbourne. Also ideal for people who stay in the hotel, it's right by Also, it has a garden with lots of tables Once inside, you immediately fall in love with the place, so classy and beautiful. The fireplace adding extra vibes The staff is super welcoming, great job Eli, Jumana, and V And the last but not the least, the food Every item seemed fancy from reading the menu, and they did deliver when serving my food as you can see on my pics I had eye fillet (250g), with creamy mash, port wine jus, sauteed spinach, and parsnip crisps As a dessert, I was intrigued when I read that they had a strawberry & black pepper mille feuille And as a drink, I ordered mango juice Every single item had a twist that surprised me, it was all beautiful, and truly delicious In short: highly recommended!

A premium restaurant with a great selection of local food and drinks. Food is consistently tasty, juicy, and delicious and generous in size and very reasonably priced. Check out the Chef's Selection Board and you won't be disappointed. Try the Pugliese sourdough with olive oil and sea salt for starters. Then the Linguini with Tiger prawns, baby tomato, bottarga and parsley, or the Pappardelle with slow cooked lamb and tomato ragu with chevre for mains, and a glass of red wine or two for an out of this World dining experience. Everything was fresh and served quickly, and the staff were friendly and professional too. Seating was very comfortable for couples or families and the restaurant was very clean and has a romantic feel to it with soft music - and the outdoor covered dining area has great sea views. Very Highly recommended 👏👍😊

The Larder is the restaurant within the Mantra, they serve the hotel buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. The buffet breakfast is typical hotel buffet with fresh fruit, cereals, breads, pastries and several bain maries with hot food like eggs, sausages etc too. The quality isn't great and definitely not worth the $30+ for breakfast, best go to a local cafe for much better food, coffee, service and value. It would be ok if in a rush to just get you going. You can also order eggs cooked properly over the counter at no charge and barista made coffee for a charge. Service here isn't great either. Dinner and lunch menu is ok and the food is also ok but just doesn't feel fresh or made with care. It's of to pick at if testing in the lounge but I wouldn't make this a planned meal if you can get a booking elsewhere.

The outside bar would have to be the most inefficient and slow service I have ever encountered. Unfortunately I had booked for 14 for outside dining for the next evening because we thought it would be good for the 5 children with us (9adults) because the environment outside was great. Wow - no record of booking even though reception had called me back, then told we don’t require a booking outside, then told if we sit outside we can only use outdoor van menu (3 items to choose from!!!), so we then had to book an inside table but the staff did not want to seat 14 at one table, too much pressure for kitchen staff to have 14 meals ready at once 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️, but did agree eventually because we were ready to walk out - got to our table and only set up for 12!!! And to top it off, my husband didn’t think it was possible to burn fish, but they did, and not sure if the chips were shrivelled completely or a new type of chip. The people who had steak did enjoy it but the other meals were very very ordinary. Staff were lovely and very pleasant but their management need to really look closely at their lack of systems & staff. Also no Frozen margarita on second visit - how hard...

My first time visiting this mantra, My mum and I arrived at around 8.30pm for our booking at the larder restaurant. After our 3 hour drive we were pretty tired and hungry ready for a nice dinner… however, unfortunately that was not our experience tonight :(

We were greeted nicely and were sat down at our tables. We had let the waiter know that we would be ordering desert after our meal for sure! Everything was fine until we had ordered our meal… Once served the meal the staff never came back and checked on our table to see if we needed anything..

we did want to order some more drinks and we were still waiting on 2 glasses of wine to pair with the meal ( as it is suggested on the menu)

After 30 minutes of trying to get the waiters attention politely, we just assumed the wine wasn’t coming and we had already finished our meal anyway..

By that time, we hadn’t even ordered desert as no one came back to our table. We would have completely understood if the restaurant was understaffed tonight however that didn’t seem the case as I counted at least 4 staff about 3 meters away from us :(

All they seemed interested in was clearing tables and packing up. Quite...
