Three times I visited La Scarpetta at Margaret River, and three times they fed me delicious Italian food. The trattoria has a warm atmosphere, and I always enjoyed my time there. It's a perfect spot to have a sip of wine and limoncello to finish your meal with.
The first time I visited La Scarpetta was when I had a girl trip with my best friend to Margaret River. The last time was this year. Somehow I always visited the restaurant in the winter time. I usually ordered a different dish to have at the restaurant. My goal is to try all of their pasta dishes that already sound so yum from the menu.
The owner of La Scarpetta works at Xanadu Winery on the weekend. The reason was simple: he loves wine, and he loves Xanadu range of wines. I was surprised when I met him during the wine tasting at Xanadu. The trattoria is one of the much-loved restaurants in Margaret River. A lot of locals visited this place as well.
I like La Scarpetta's Linguini al Cartoccio that is served in a paper bag. It's oven baked linquini with prawns, clams, zucchini, and white wine. The portion is huge, and you can take it away for the next day.
During my last visit to Margaret River, Sharon and I got to try their Zampone. Zampone is a traditional New Year's Eve dish of slow-boiled pigs trotter, stuffed with Italian sausage, pancetta, and vegetables. It was served on a bed of braised lentils and pancetta. We were told that lentils symbolise money or fortune, and pork trotters symbolise luck.
I think it's now a tradition to visit La Scarpetta whenever a trip to Margaret River comes up. La Scarpetta is located at the town of Margaret River, and there is plenty of street parking available. If you're not sure what wine to order with your meal, the staff are helpful and able to suggest some wines with a different...

Took my mom here for dinner for the first time when she visited Perth last Sep. I had been to this restaurant before, but never for dining-in. I noticed they have changed the menu for some of the items, ie: they no longer serve pasta with seafood which is usually my favourite. But that's ok...we thought this gave us the opportunity to try sth new.
For drinks, I ordered coffee martini. Love it! 🍸
For entrees, we had the croquettes and arancinis. The arancinis were nice, but the croquettes were a bit...weird. It's very different from what I imagined as normal croquettes which is usually deep fried as a whole, but not here (see picture).
For mains, I had the Cavatelli Salsiccia e Funghi (pasta with Italian sausage and mushroom) and my mom had the Ravioli al Pesce (pasta parcels with white fish). I really LOVED my pasta and devoured the whole thing!!! 🍝 Unfortunately, my mom didn't enjoy her pasta. She usually loves having fish (that's why she ordered this pasta), but there's barely any fish in the pasta. I did try some and sure enough, we couldn't taste any fish at all. So it's basically like eating pastas only ☹️
For desserts, we had the Tiramisu and Creme brulee. Tiramisu was good, but the Creme brulee was errrrrrrr again...weird! 😵💫 It just tasted so different from the one I usual have...and unfortunately it's different in a not-so-good way. It's also waaaaaaay too sickly sweet! 😵💫 I know desserts are meant to be sweet, but perhaps make it smaller??? The serving was quite big that it became way too sickly sweet to finish. We struggled. Even the table next to us didn't finish it.
So overall, it's 50/50 cos we seemed to only enjoy one of the entrees, the mains and the...
Read moreDidn't even get the dine here as the service was so poor, down in Margaret River for our anniversary and through we would book here for dinner - we did a wine tour who booked our dinner plans at the restaurant for us as we were told be get a glass of wine upon arrival, we did the wine tour Friday and got the booking for the restaurant on the Saturday (obviously because we had to much to drink and wanted to be responsible and just go home and rest) - tour guide confirmed with us it was booked for the Saturday 6:30pm. We later get a phone call from the restaurant (the guy on the phone was very argumentative) and kept repeating it was booked for tonight (Friday) and we clearly wouldn't be in and there was obviously some miscommunication when the tour guide booked, and asked if we can just move it Saturday - after he huffed at me - said he only times available we're 5:30pm or 8:30pm (we wanted 6:30 as he had prior commitments) and he wouldn't budge so I agreed to 5:30 which he quickly responded he needed my card details to take a deposit - I responded that they didn't need it for the first booking and I didn't have my card on me anyway. He said he needed it to make the booking otherwise we don't get a table ( sent me a text with a link to pay online) then said we can just book online but said "you might find there is more booking times online just book there" - obviously went online to check availability and they had every time available for the whole night for both the 2 hour seating and 90 minute seating. The guy was not helpful one bit and just very argumentative. Seems to be a running theme with previous reviews on the restaurant - maybe do something about it.
We booked with Sons of Naples instead and had a wonderful...
