Well dip me in honey and roll me in a fire ant nest. Is not something I will often look or ask for. What I will look for is good beer, good food and good people. All of the three were found in quantities required for good times. Look, visiting the South West of WA in winter was frought with danger, but arguments with my wife aside, this was a sheltered and welcoming port, all be it inland and surrounded by wineries. Two days in a row I ventured forth, down the road and slightly up hill to the beer nirvana that is the Brewhouse. Luckily on the second day, I got to see the PR machine at work. All posh plates and smiling visitors. Disappointed that my ugly mug was not asked to be part of a long term advertisement, but relieved that my witness protection ID was still intact, I've imbibed in food that is substantial, great tasting and well priced. But more importantly for us beer peeps, a selection of beer that is, tre - bloody- mendous. I don't have a long wizardesq beard, but good beer is good beer. This joint brews great beer. The pallet of eight ponies was mildly disappointing, would've been nice to have a couple of the limited release. But, it was enough to tempt me back. So, job's a good un. A couple a pints of varying IPAs later and a wish I was able to do a long session ( oh but for the laws of driving the next day) I made off with a four pack. Cannot recommend the joint highly enough. Get in, get on it, support the local economy and thank the monks of old and poor water sanitation for the invention of beer. Bloody tremendous.... ....and if an older silver back, grumpy git ever needed for future ads, I'm your man.

Not really big on eating at breweries, but was pleasantly surprised with Margaret River Brewery. Have driven past this place many times and the carpark is always overflowing so decided to do a dinner visit. We just walked in ( recommend booking) and were found a table by the lovely staff. Not overly busy so ordering was easy . The food was amazing and different. Many Asian fusion inspired dishes , pizzas and fresh salads packed with flavour. We ordered a variety of dishes, beef ribs, Korean chicken, brewhouse salad. & cheeseburger roti to share .. WOW WOW Will definitely come again. Families with small children would love this, huge play area and space outside . ** So a bit of an edit : We went again on our last night in town .. Boys re ordered the ribs, not as great as a couple nights back. Flavour was there, just not as falling off the bone texture as before. I had the Japanese caesar.. very filling lots of rice unfortunately I couldn’t finish the pork, was very dry and chewy. I had pictured the pork belly to come in bite size pieces coated in some kind of sauce. And lastly we tired the prawn toast, loved the flavour and was a large serve enough for 3 people to share. Had to drop a star for the second nightšŸ˜ž, but the service and atmosphere was still on point

Being of asian background myself I’m always wary about trying asian fusion food. They are often trying too hard or not faithful enough to maintain the flavour of asian ingredients. This place however, has done that well beyond my expectation. I only get to try the Harissa Mushroom and the Beef Brisket dishes, but they are both lip smackingly delicious. The beef brisket broth was full of flavour. Beef was tender. Excellent pairing with the fried potato cube and the prawn crackers. One of the best fusion I’ve had. The mushrooms dish was delicious. I love the use of sambal to add a nice kick of spice in there. Absolutely amazing dish from the chef. I cleaned the plate well they probably thought I’d wash it. The kids dishes (except for the pizza) were very generous too. Huge sizes. Especially the fish and chips, its almost an adult dish except with only a slice of fish. Service was great. My clumsy arm knocked my beer and they immediately brought a replacement! While the place was fully booked, they don’t really time your visit. So if someone booked a table at 1pm you should be able to walk in and have the table to use before then. So highly recommend the visit even if you can’t book. Definitely will be returning on our next stop at Margaret River!
