this place didn't hit the mark for me. the two stars were mainly for the pizza crust; the topping wasn't 'voluptuous' or flavoursome. it was a cold day and the pizza was obviously put on a cold plate so it went cold in a matter of minutes. asked the waitress (who was very hard to find....) if it could be re-heated. came back, admittedly faster than expected; however, once again put on a cold plate and went cold within 2 mins. thought a warm/hot serving dish might be common sense but guess there's none of that out there when there's so much radiation and screens hanging in the air ... the ambience was moderate. it was late afternoon and not as busy as an evening. as we were leaving it got busy but the same number of staff seemed to remain (good luck to them!). there was no organic wines (abysmal but have to say this isn't the only place in margs one would expect an organic to be on the wine list!). the 'garden' salad was extremely bland consisting of just kale and rocket leaves and a dusting of cheez, sparse scatterings of pumpkin kernels and five pieces of pumpkin. couldn't taste the dressing as it hadn't be tossed well. needed at least a few tomatoes, cucumber, red onion or something to make it more appeasing to the eye and delicious to the taste buds. the chickpea fritters tasted so-so except for the after taste of used vegetable oil. in cape town it's not allowed to use the same cooking oil twice (one loses their licence) and sunflower oil is a much better option than veg seed; altho the only healthy heated oil is cold pressed coconut. personally, i'd much prefer the italian spot and khaza khana's for a scrumptious meal, good value and great service with a nice buzz of atmosphere. the music was good for that...

Was very excited with the menu options this time. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the pizza and it was good as the last time he recalled- he has the Buffalina. The children enjoyed their meals and portions seemed about right.
My main was delicious but I felt the portion was not proportionate to the cost (especially after having dined at Eagle bay where the proportions was definitely great value and the flavour was amazing, though Swings' pizza was apparently still the best thus far of what my husband has tried). The beef cheeks could have been a little more generous and the celeriac amount too. Perhaps I was very hungry that night but we ordered the octopus (side) as well but yikes it was tiny for $17. I could’ve added another $10 to get another plate of the beef cheeks and that would’ve been a better choice and much more filling. No, I’m not expecting to be full with a side plate but mind you I had a main meal as well and I left still hungry. It was the cost for the octopus in proportion to the actual serving size that was the issue. Comparing again with Eagle Bay, I ordered the duck pate side there which was about the same price, I could get full on that serving that was provided!! And it was divine too.

I called in advance to make a reservation with a couple of additional requests such as seating arrangements & a query with regards to any special practices for celebrations - all this initially arranged by the lovely Rochelle . Whilst it was possible to arrange a beautifully romantic, quieter, beside the fireplace dinner table, birthday celebratory practices were not really accommodated. Regardless however not only was the prearranged, beautiful Persian dessert delivered to our table by the manager himself, it boasted a tastefully placed candle & was accompanied with happy birthday sung to the b/f. Moments later we were presented with a glass of bubbly each to toast the event, compliments of the house. This evening was made very special for the bf, by a manager who went above and beyond to ensure one of the most romantic dinners I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of.
