Alimentari is solid spot with a good layout, lots of seating options, and in a great location. The offerings are varied and high quality, they seem to cater to people with lots of different dietary requirements and everything looked fresh and appealing. Whether you're keen to sit down and eat, grab something on the go, or buy and freeze a meal, there is an option for you. The salads are great with good serving size options. The reason I'm not giving Alimentari five stars is due to the service that we received today. The person we ordered from told us that there was no soup on offer (we later saw a delicious looking bowl of soup served to someone seated nearby) and put us down as a takeaway order when it was quite clear that we would be dining in. It was a perplexing interchange for sure. As a result, the person who then served us our food was not set up for success however they did very little to recover from the misunderstanding; passing us our food in small to go boxes and insisting that we would have to pay extra to eat in the restaurant. Eventually we seemed to come to a compromise in which our food was given to us in the to go boxes in a bowl. I'm not quite sure what was accomplished here but it seemed to leave the server happy. As mentioned, Alimentari is a solid restaurant that I would recommend, perhaps just be wary that the serving staff may not be as attentive as expected and plan...
Read moreSadly unimpressed and disappointed today. I’m not sure what’s gone wrong here lately. Perhaps pandemic staffing and restrictions has produced issues. The staff were friendly and tried hard . However the menu is no longer the zenith of delicious creativity of the bygone days .
Our breakfast style meals were pretty poor and overpriced. For the second time now. Two ( well cooked) eggs dumped on two burnt edged, molar breaking pieces of brick style sourdough and that was it. Not even a sprig of parsley. With a not explained bottled juice? What?
Plating and taste inspiration this was not. Nigella would be furious with the current state of affairs .
Pretty slack on the Covid protocols as well . Nobody checked we’d checked in . Not at any stage. Just back from Sydney where a door person everywhere you go unfailingly sorts that out . This is a big problem...
Read moreLovely little deli on Brunswick St. The salads and sandwiches are really delicious. We had the farro salad and the kale caesar salad. They give you a generous serving and the kale caesar is one of the best salads I've ever eaten, it's amazing! Also we had the Salami panini and the roast beef hi-top. Both were packed full of fillings and were so tasty! I especially enjoyed the caramelised onions on the roast beef sandwich. We also tried the fresh blood orange juice which was just what we needed as a refreshing beverage on the side. We were sitting on the bench by the window and it can feel a little cramped, but the space is nice and the staff are very friendly. It can get quite busy so service will sometimes feel a little slow, but overall a great place to sit in and eat or pick up a salad and...
