ORDERED: đŸ„š Huevos Sucios (Dirty Eggs): Tator tots, cheddar cheese, avocado & tomatillo sauce, black beans, jalapeno, fried eggs & chipotle mayo ($23.00) chorizo ($5.00) 🎃 Miso-Glazed Pumpkin Salad: with roasted miso pumpkin, cashew cream, lentils & quinoa, leafy greens, pickled onions, fetta, pepita seeds, fried kale ($22.00) poached egg ($2.50)

It was ~$35.71pp, which included a coffee each & 10% weekend surcharge.

REVIEW: There was a line outside of Archie's but we didn't have to wait too long. About 15-20 minutes at 11:00am! ⏳

In terms of environment, we were near the front door across the bar-table. I didn't get the opportunity to check out further inside, but the speakers were a little bit too loud for our liking. The bass was THUMPING. We had to raise our voices a little to hear each other talk. 😅 Wasn't a fan of this.

❀ For food, it was quite good. Dirty eggs were a fun savoury treat with the loaded potato gems. It's definitely a treat-yourself option but would pass on the chorizos next time. It was a little bit too salty for my liking, throwing out the balance of the dish. It could quite easily be eaten by itself. ⛈ The pumpkin salad won our hearts. Fried kale is one of my favourite things and it worked so well with the creaminess and sweetness of the pumpkin. I would get this dish again! Splitting with my friend made these dishes more enjoyable. 😍 The quantities were big and perfect too!

Dropped in during the week and ordered the ‘Persian Spiced Almond Rice Porridge, Quince Compote, Toasted Almond & Pear 16.5”.

Another breakfast option offered ‘rhubarb yogurt’ to which I offered the waitress $5 extra to substitute from the ‘quince’ in the dish.

The waitress (brown black frizzy hair) said “We don’t do that here. It’s funny that you ask that.. a few people have asked for the same today” before briskly walking off. I silently think to myself, does this person even listen to a word she says? “People are asking for it” - You’re not listening to your customers even if they’re willing to pay more money because ‘we don’t do that here’. She must have owned the place.

‘Waitress’ returns only to hastily snatch a tumbler of cutlery we’re not using. Storms off..

Food arrives.

When I put my spoon down to have a sip of the poorly made Mork Hot Chocolate, the same rude woman approaches the table, “are you done ‘picking’?’ Wanting to get out of there, I say yes. “Picking”? Get stuffed Archie’s!

What can I say? Dismal hot drinks. Dismal food. Nothing ‘Persian’ about that ‘Persian spiced almond rice porridge’. Rice was bland, soggy, somewhat gruel like. The quince (supposed to be the star of the dish) did not deliver and made me wonder if I was eating a cheese plate or a soggy rice dish.

There’s no room for improvement when one is unable to take constructive criticism.

Note: the reply from the cafe demonstrates the childishness of the waitress...

Interesting. It is very rare. To find a place. Where I say exclaim “Alas, this place has everything I need and want”. If it were possible. I would even do my groceries here also.

The service from the entire team is so lovely and warm. It is unmatched in the industry imo. They serve you like that loyal friend none of us deserve, by nursing you back to full health with delicious food and coffee after a wild night out. The level of service has such a personal touch to it, that it develops a deep sense of loyalty. So much so that I even feel a little guilty if I cbf walking up there and get coffee from somewhere else. My mind will whisper “I hope they don’t get the wrong idea. I hope they dont think that they are no longer my day ones”.

The music is always just that tad louder for the sake of vibes and atmosphere. Party in your mouth, and ears. But you can still hear and hold down a conversation.

As far as food goes. Its f##### delicious. If you rated it 1 star. You probably were just tryna shake them down for more so you can have it for free. It was so yum that it became offensive you couldn’t find something to complain about. Which drove you to find something ridiculous to be ungrateful for.

Coffee!!! 10/10 specialists. Not everyone knows how to get Oat milk right. But they seem to have it dialled in.

Overall, this place is a full experience for me. And im glad I found it. Love the food and team so I will...

Can you get more Melbourne than a cafe like Archie's? This cafe is warm and inviting with its cozy lighting, hipster decor and great music. The wait staff are fun and friendly and dressed in their own individual styles. Bright yellow sweaters, pink hair, and someone who looked reminiscent of a Beetle 😊 It honestly just adds to the atmosphere. The food was lovely, we had the Huevos Sucios and the Fried Chicken & Waffle. Both were really imaginative and flavoursome. My only comments would be that the chorizo was extremely salty and that even if you pair up your elements in the Huevos Sucios you're still left with a plate of just tator tots so perhaps an additional ingredient could benefit? Or perhaps some more avo(we only found a couple of small pieces). Coffee blend was so beautiful that i couldn't resist a second cup. It was a bit cold but the staff explained that the outside door was jammed. Which is fair. Will definitely be back.
