Beef Papa Hotpot — Restaurant in Melbourne

This place is a hidden gem in boxhill, in a small street (rutland road) opposite sky one and Central.

The specialty of this restaurant is hand-cut beef and mutton, all halal meat. The soup base is freshly made which has been simmered for a long time. I found the place of great value and the meat is very fresh. Parking is also very convenient, there are many parking spaces nearby.

Our first choice is fresh-cut beef and mutton. it is visibly clean and there is no foam in the hotpot We don’t like spicy food, so I chose tomato soup and pork belly and chicken soup as the soup base. Highly recommend their pork belly and chicken soup. The tomato soup is still fresh and sweet. After eating their soup, I feel very comfortable. I won't feel dry in the mouth or anything else at all, because it is cooked for a long time and is truly delicious. We also ordered the papa beef platter, which includes various types of beef, beef tendon, tripe, mutton, etc. I like the enoki mushrooms with a ring of tender beef surrounding them. It tastes great when cooked.

It’s actually very big inside, with two antique pavilions suitable for large tables, and two large private rooms. The decoration is very antique. liked the small ice cream freezer at the door. It’s really nice to have a popsicle after dinner. Each table has a service button. Just press it and the waiter will come. It is very convenient and considerate.

Our go to place for late night dinner. We are a huge fan of hot pot and we love Beef Papa for its late operating hours, till 2am on weekends! We ordered tomato beef broth and clear soup base this time. The broth is great until they refill it with clear soup/water. The variety of food is great and often offers a great value meals on social media platforms. We enjoy the beef very much. The vegetables are fresh and the sauce is yummy. My number 1 for late night hot pot. Will visit again for its mushroom soup base and spicy soup base. We would find better hot pot though in box hill but there is only beef papa with its operating...

My and my partner went there on a Saturday night. The place was left drafty with the front wide open the whole time on a cold winter night. The only air con was blowing towards the cash desk where the staff would gather. No one bothered to check to add some water in the pot, given there were only a few tables around. I had a bad diarrhea on the night, then the following morning. The seasonings section was filled with half empty bowls. U could just tell that the kitchen is under prepped or the owner was being stingy. Anyhow I always give out a good review when I do write one. But this unfortunately wasnt a pleasant...
