They went above and beyond to entertain me, my friends and their families
I was accompanied with two of my friends and their families at this restaurant for dinner last night. D Hall of Flame is a family owned and reasonably new in business. I was very impressed with the quality of service that I received from the day that I made initial enquiries. They have gone beyond limits to accommodate all my requests and more importantly they were very flexible in menu preparation to suit specific dietary requirements. Upon arrival we were welcomed by Sahil and his wife who are the business owners. We felt homely and extremely happy throughout the night. There was a personal touch to their service due to the fact that both Sahil and his wife are working at the restaurant. The food was delicious and I must say that we all have enjoyed genuine authentic indian cuisine after quite sometime. To be honest I was not expecting this kind of a service, quality of food from a new business as such. I can't pick one favourite dish because all the food that was served on our table was equally delicious and each serving was were very generous. I wish to recommend this restaurant to anyone willing to taste the flavours of fabulous indian food and personalised service in close proximity to the heart of Melbourne City. Sahil, I wish if I could give you more stars and take this as an opportunity to wish you well in your business. See you...
Read moreOne of the best Indian restaurants in Melbourne! The food was absolutely amazing, and the portions were generous too. The host, Sahil, was incredibly kind and provided exceptional service. the hospitality really stood out. The space itself felt cozy, warm, and comfortable. We visited for a late Sunday dinner, and everything we ordered was served quickly and tasted wonderfully fresh.
What we ordered: 🍗 Surrender with Chicken (4.5/5) – The chicken was beautifully cooked and paired with a flavour-packed gravy. Honestly, one of the best-cooked chicken dishes I’ve had in Melbourne! 🧀 Cultured Tikka Masala (4/5) – Soft, fresh paneer in a rich, flavourful gravy. It really felt like homemade paneer! 🥘 Flambé Lentil (5/5) – Easily the best dal tadka I’ve had in Melbourne! The bold garlic tadka was perfection and took me straight back to a dhaba in India. 🍞 Breads (4.5/5) – The whole wheat roti was outstanding — even better than the garlic naan! Perfectly soft yet crisp, brushed with butter, and paired beautifully with the curries. 🍚 Cumin Rice (4.5/5) – Fragrant basmati rice with cumin and a touch of ghee! simple, aromatic, and a perfect match for the dal. 🥭🍓 Drinks (4/5) – We tried the mango and strawberry lassis with a fun slushy twist. The mango one was especially refreshing!
Overall, an incredible experience! amazing food, great service, and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely...
Read moreSuch an amazing experience. Very close to India's version of fine dining. The lighting was dim and cozy, the decor modern and creative, still in keeping with its Indian theme. This is a great place to go for a date. The 'Surrender with Paneer' which is genuinely difficult to order and keep a straight face was without a doubt the BEST Paneer curry I've ever eaten. The Rogan was also delicious. We ordered the Chaat as an entree which is both a feast for the eyes and the mouth.
I can't give 5 stars though. Mainly because our waitress had her hands wrapped around the bowl of our wine glasses. The rule is that servers should only touch the stem of a glass whilst the patron may hold it by the bowl. No one wants to try and drink from a wine glass covered with someone else's fingerprints. The wine glasses were also very sloppily poured. Both glasses were very wet inside and out. I had to dry mine with a napkin. The door to the deck was also left open twice, meaning we were all assaulted by an insanely cold breeze. The door was closed both times by guests who had to leave their seats to do so.
I truly did love the dining experience here though. The food was prepared quickly and expertly. The servers may just need a little more training. Will...
