I am forced to give a star as a minimum but this place deserves zero!!! Went on a Saturday night and it was almost empty (at best 5% of seats were occupied) - that was a really bad sign and shouldn't have ignored it. Ordered the basic dishes of veg samosa, aloo mattar and basmati rice. Apart from the food being bland and tasteless, what really pissed me off was the service. The waitress was down right rude and when served the basmati rice in a bowl her fingers literally touched the rice all over the edges. Ugh! I had to take the rice from the middle and my appetite was ruined.
It gets worse. When I paid the bill (inc. the rice) I was asked how the food was by the waitress (the manager standing behind her back). I said it was terrible at which the manager decides to run away and not ask anything. I told the waitress that it was disgusting how she had served the rice with her fingers touching the edges and she had the audacity to argue - oh no I didn't do that, I have been in the hospitality industry for years. She couldn't comprehend the fact that I even paid for my rice and had made the mention of this - why would I lie about such a thing especially after paying??? My rice was left over - untouched.
The previous owners (Little India) ran a much better restaurant. This place has gone to the dogs -...
Read moreOne star for being open + one star for “serving” food. The most atrocious service I have ever experienced, and I was once punched in the face! We were the only people there and the food still took an hour to come out. The waiter didn’t know the menu and every order seemed to be some sort of inconvenience for him. We remarked that it seemed more like a CIA operation where they were pretending to run a restaurant than actually knowing what they were doing. It was a birthday so we gave them the cake when we arrived and when we asked them to bring it out they returned the cake to us without clearing the table or even unboxing it. After they finally cleared the table (not wiping it down) we sat and assumed they would bring plates out for us but they must have assumed we would either eat it with out hands or throw it out the window.
I started this review thinking I’ll give it two stars but upon reflection it really...
Read moreWe have lived around the corner for over 20 years, were regular (once a month) for many years until recipe / chef changes about a year or so ago (confirmed with staff) after complaining about lack of flavour. Didn't go back. Visited again over weekend (very little open) and thought will give another chance.
Only 3 other couples seated when we arrived - not busy. Food was very, very good, BUT the head female waitress seriously needs a kick in the pants, wake up and do your job.
Had to ask for ice bucket for wine. Had to get wine glasses from table inside ourselves. Had to ask for plates and cutlery. Had to ask for papadams given to all others. Extra entree order arrived late. Menu reads 'Roti, Naan and Rice', we were asked whether we wanted Roti OR Naan. When I said both as per menu you'd think I swore at her. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Appalling slow 'service'. For goodness sake, try...
