I had a coffee at the Espresso Riviera sometime back when I had to go to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center to pick up my Visa for a trip to Shenzhen, China.
Espresso Riviera is typical of many of the cafes along the St Kilda Road business and thriving apartment district such as the close nearby Bistro Bakini and Times Cafe. Like most of these cafes, Espresso Riviera is located on the ground floor and mainly services the occupants within and visitors to the building that they are in.
Espresso Riviera offers a reasonable selection of hot and cold food, breakfast (eggs, sides, smoked Salmon, Ham/Mushroom Omelette, fruit salad) and takeaway, and it has plenty of seating both outdoor and indoor. Read moreI am completely in shock at the way I was treated by a staff member/owner/manager at this cafe. I am not from Melbourne and travelled up to get my Chinese Visa. I sat down to finish booking my visa application appointment and was abruptly told that I could not sit there with a coffee from another cafe. I was actually so shocked and stammered my explanation that I was just finishing my booking when I was cut off and told “it doesn’t matter, this is a cafe and you can’t bring a coffee from another cafe and sit here.” I am so disgusted. Read morecame here for lunch while waiting for the chinese visa office and i was thorougly impressed!
i got the fried chicken schnitzel sandwich wrap and it was so yummy. it came with a nice tangy mayo that complimented the chicken, cheese, and the spinach well.
i also got a hot chocolate on the side which also was really delicious especially because of how creamy it was but not losing out on the chocolate flavour.
for dessert, we got one of the pastries and i truly recommend the mango passionfruit one. the filling was delicious and it reminded me of the jam that goes on top of cheesecakes. the pastry itself was full of delicious buttery flavours too however it would have been even better if it was oven baked or made warm again.
would love to visit this place again on a day when im not visiting the chinese...
