I had a coffee at the Espresso Riviera sometime back when I had to go to the Chinese Visa Application Service Center to pick up my Visa for a trip to Shenzhen, China. Espresso Riviera is typical of many of the cafes along the St Kilda Road business and thriving apartment district such as the close nearby Bistro Bakini and Times Cafe. Like most of these cafes, Espresso Riviera is located on the ground floor and mainly services the occupants within and visitors to the building that they are in. Espresso Riviera offers a reasonable selection of hot and cold food, breakfast (eggs, sides, smoked Salmon, Ham/Mushroom Omelette, fruit salad) and takeaway, and it has plenty of seating both outdoor and indoor. The coffee is good and prices generally are quite reasonable. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful. However, there is an issue with hygiene as the the coffee cup didn't look the best.

Popped by as I was visiting the Chinese Visa Office- they told me I was early for my appointment. The coffee and plain croissant and almond croissant are nice. Staff are friendly and polite. Sat outside in the balconied area surrounded by plants with modern colours, furniture and new railings- different from photos shared by past patrons where the area opened up to the footpath and was bordered with wooden railings. Perhaps this place is under new Management as it’s nothing like the old reviews and descriptions. Very pleasant spot on a nice sunny day. Would recommend as a place to wait besides standing outside the Visa centre entrance. Would be cool if this place could have a TV screen with the waiting numbers from the Visa centre in their cafe 😆

Great coffee and meals. Take away and table service. Clean, well spaced cafeteria with indoor and out door eating areas located on the busy St Kilda Road neat the Melbourne CBD. The day I was there was sunny and warm weather and the perfect place to be was this premises. Wheel chair Friendly, Public and disabled toilets

I am completely in shock at the way I was treated by a staff member/owner/manager at this cafe. I am not from Melbourne and travelled up to get my Chinese Visa. I parked outside or a cafe and needed to use the loo so bought a coffee from there. I then went into the building for the Chinese visa without realising that the tables belonged to this cafe. I sat down to finish booking my visa application appointment and was abruptly told that I could not sit there with a coffee from another cafe. I was actually so shocked and stammered my explanation that I was just finishing my booking when I was cut off and told “it doesn’t matter, this is a cafe and you can’t bring a coffee from another cafe and sit here.” I am so disgusted. I would have been more than happy to get something from this cafe as I had done at the other one so I could use their toilet. Have a little...

came here for lunch while waiting for the chinese visa office and i was thorougly impressed!

i got the fried chicken schnitzel sandwich wrap and it was so yummy. it came with a nice tangy mayo that complimented the chicken, cheese, and the spinach well.

i also got a hot chocolate on the side which also was really delicious especially because of how creamy it was but not losing out on the chocolate flavour.

for dessert, we got one of the pastries and i truly recommend the mango passionfruit one. the filling was delicious and it reminded me of the jam that goes on top of cheesecakes. the pastry itself was full of delicious buttery flavours too however it would have been even better if it was oven baked or made warm again.

would love to visit this place again on a day when im not visiting the chinese...
