Extremely disappointed, we used to come here years ago as regular clients of the view hotel and we came here for the spa looking out onto the amazing views , we googled prices for the view Melbourne and it still showed an amazing looking spa swimming pool with an arch window only to discover once we got in our bathers and walked upstairs to where the pool was a few years ago to discover the pool has been decommissioned when we approached the assistant manager we were told it was decommissioned three years ago which is interesting to note as we were only here back in August 2023 and the spa was still in action, it takes away the purpose of wanting to stay here as it gave you an activity to do rather than sitting in your hotel room with nothing to do on the view website. There should be a note that the spa pool is closed as we are not the only people that have made complaints to management About their expectations when coming to this accommodation. The purpose of this stay was for my son‘s birthday so it was highly disappointing to find this decommission has been done without any notice on their actual website stating that there is no pool spa. I would also like to mention that the staff at the Front reception had no idea what a service dog was and they were going to charge me a $20 pet fee for having our service dog accompany my son for his stay even when showing ID they did not seem to understand that a service dog is not a pet. Eventually the receptionist understood and removed the $20 extra fee she was going to charge us. As you will see by my review picture when you google view Melbourne you will see the spa which is very misleading to the customer coming in expecting to have a spa available to them. I was told by the assistant management that this is a Google error as their pool is no longer reflected on their website however when you are googling for prices for View Melbourne their images are there and so are their prices that you can click on the view Melbourne price link and it takes you straight to their website leaving this very deceiving. There is a small table in the room with one chair even though the room is set up for 4people, having at least two chairs at the table would make it more practical. Buffet breakfast has gone down hill hot food was cold. Was offered two coffees from the cafe as an apology and the lady was really nice. Apparently the hot plates for the food were all set in 1 the lowest possible setting . It’s also a shame they have taken away there pancake machine this was always a novelty for the family and a great way to finish off the buffet breakfast .the view Melbourne in my opinion has gone down hill I would not stay here again or recommend this acoomodation

Horrible Experience - Unsafe for Solo Female Travelers I had an extremely distressing experience at this hotel, which is far from deserving its advertised 4-star . I booked a three-night stay through Booking.com, arriving at midnight, only to be assigned a room that was already occupied by another guest. The thought of entering a room with a stranger present was terrifying, especially as a solo female traveler. Fortunately, I was lucky to be on a call with my family , and the current guest was in the bathroom when I entered, which allowed me to leave the room immediately. This situation could have ended very differently. Despite their apology and transfer me to another room, I checked out the next day, hoping for a refund for the remaining two nights. However, the hotel staff informed me that they couldn’t issue a refund, as my booking was made through Booking.com. I contacted booking.com customer service, only to be informed that the hotel denied the room had been assigned to another guest, claiming instead that it was merely unclean. They also denied that I had checked out, despite having accepted my key card and confirming the processing of my security deposit refund. This hotel not only failed in basic safety protocols but also misled both myself and Booking.com. I paid AUD 480 for three nights, but after this traumatizing experience, I was not refunded for the two nights I didn’t stay. The staff were rude, dishonest, and the entire situation was deeply upsetting. I would strongly advise against staying here, especially for solo female travelers. Attaching the photo i took upon entering and hearing noise from bathroom. It was 12:25 am . It’s absolutely traumatizing experience.

Hi Guys, just some background information. I’m a travelling rep so I stay in a lot of hotels. Very honest with my feed back. I will break this down into dot points. I stayed for 5x days. I always provide photos: 1) breakfast buffet food is cold and old. It’s cheap $22 but not eatable. 2) I had to walk downstairs to get towels for my room as they left me with none. They also reused I’m hoping my old towels one day. I could smell my perfume. 3) I found fingernails left in my sink and I stayed for 5x days. They remained there for my entire visit. No one cleans the room. 4) My bed wasn’t even made they just pulled the sheets up. It’s weird I’ve never seen them no make the beds before 5) I ate 4x separate meals in the Indian lemon style dish, dumplings, brownie and burrito. All of them are rubbish and quite pricey. Lastly, my sink area remained disgusting. I took a photo each day as at the start it was comical seeing gross fingernail stunk on my sink but towards the end I was really over coming back to a dirty room. One positive the bed is comfortable. All photos provided are in sequential order so you can see it gets progressively worse. Don’t stay here very dirty and bad food.

My partner and I have stayed here over the years a fair few times and how it has changed throughout the time hasn't been for the greater good for the hotel , we visited last week check in was delayed ,reception staff didn't really show any sincerity on this matter either and told us well we have to wait as room wasn't ready yet even though we told them we were checking in at 3pm, DIDNT HAVE STAFF BE SO RUDE AND IGNORANT UNTIL THIS we were checked in and given our room access swipe we were offered no assistance from front reception on having luggage assistance and could see I was struggling to transport my husband has a disability and unable to assist , once in lift we were greeted by a lovely young lady with a smile and asked how our day was it was nice to see a sincere face after our disappointing arrival start, even though the young lady had her hands full of tools when we arrived to our floor and she saw me trying to get out of lift with the luggage she immediately put the tools down and assisted me and my husband to our room without hesitation and appologised for not being assisted to begin with , really nice to have a staff member genuinely care about the MMA onguests and made out check in not feel as bad, I forget the young lady's name told her we hoped her assistance didn't delay what job she was off to do and her reply was nothing was more of a priority and impqortant then making sure guests stay and needs were being attended to and that guests experience and stay in the hotel was a positive one and she was pretty sure her work was able to be set aside for that reason, her smile and warming nature made the hotel stay rather pleasent. once in the room she put down our luggage checked that our aircon was is working order which it was and left saying if there was anything more she could do to make our stay comfortable let reception and that the hotel would endeavour to assist with our requests went to put tv on only to have tv not working so rang reception waited for someone to arrive to fix issue the young lady had attended rather promptly explained showed us how the programming worked as we hadn't used their new set up before showed me step by step how to use and get to channels then patiently stayed till I was able to navigate the system myself ,went in the same warming kindness she shown from beginning,. the pool and spa were out of order and by the looks of the state of it, the gym if you want to call it that is an absolute death trap waiting to happen wouldn't advise to go use at all , no signage to let you know how to use items , all equipment crammed into a small room not even secured to floor and some held by cable ties and rusted equipment and an aircon leaking water on PowerPoinT rust eaten away framing around the gym pool and toilet women's toilets doesn't even have a shower head and the sauna is disgusting very disappointed at how downhill the maintenance within the building has spiralled down from when we first started visiting here not sure if same owner but definitely needing attention around the hotel as I see it's falling apart . bedding needs to be replaced as it was disguSting ,curtains have been the same for many years and smelled rather foul , carpet needs to be pulled out and have floorboards and renovations of rooms amenities and lamps and decor needs a more modern look as it's very old and tacky with worn out stained carpets and lamp shades are that ALLold and damaged I can't believe rooms were rented to guests to stay in .. that hotel needs to firstly re evaluate their standards on hiring employees and train them in etiquette to their guests , question the performance on their maintenance around the hotel as it has certainly hitrock bottom sad low& shows get NEW STAFF although bathroom was nice this occasion, bar staff and the young lady who helped us with our luggage are the only reason we would consider coming back they need more staff like that if they want guests to keep coming back and hotel needs attention on its maintenance department and rooms definitely...

We stayed here for 2 nights, post a surgery in hospital, which staff at the hotel were aware of. We had fully paid online when booking.

At check in, we were asked for our credit card, no explanation given as to what they needed it for.

We were then given an iPad to sign a document. The receptionist had scrolled down to the signature part, without providing any information on what the document was for.

I questioned both of the above and was then provided an explanation.

We then went to our room, which was dirty. Bed head, window sill and surfaces had very obvious dust (photos taken). Floor had not been vacuumed and had very obvious chunks of crap on the carpet.

Rooms need to be painted and look very tired.

We then noticed that our air conditioning wasn’t working. The same receptionist that checked us in came to check and confirmed that it wasn’t working. Apparently no other room was available so we were unable to be moved.

We wanted to order room service but there was no brochure in our room and no information on their website re the menu.

We went to reception and took photos of the room service menu which we then ordered for dinner. One of the items we ordered was a cheese platter. It came with a chutney/honey, a couple wedges of cheese and no bread or crackers to put the cheese/chutney/honey on.

We called room service and were offered an apology and advised that they will look for some bread or crackers and bring them up. 40 mins later, we still had not received anything.

We called again, spoke to someone else who advised they are very busy but they will try and find some bread. Another 30 mins passed and we received a couple of slices of white bread (supermarket style) that had been toasted.

The following morning we went to shower but the room had no hot water.

The toilet was also not stable and tips to one side.

We tried to have a coffee in the morning but no milk was left in our fridge. Another call to reception and we were then brought up some milk. Usually we wouldn’t care re milk but when it’s compounded on top of all the above…

We had breakfast in the morning at the buffet, food was pretty terrible!

On our 2nd day at the hotel, we were moved to a different room. The new room had warm water and air conditioning and seemed cleaner. No pillow cases were left on any of the 4 pillows, house keeping came to fix it after we called them.

Ordered another platter via room service for one of the other restaurants in the hotel. Platter came with burrata cheese but no cutlery. No cutlery in the room either. We ended up using our fingers to pick up the burrata cheese and eat it.

Staff massively lack customer service. Hotel needs some maintenance and love as it is not in good condition.

All in all, pretty terrible experience. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

update- I received an automated survey from the hotel. Upon completion, I received an email from the duty manager, apologizing for our experience. The email stated to reply if I required anything further. I’ve been emailing them for almost 3 weeks now, numerous times a week, to follow up on our 15% refund that we were offered. No reply. Honestly terrible experience and terrible...

I hardly ever write super long reviews like this and complaining to the staff at this hotel about our stay would have fell on deaf ears as there just didn't seem to be a care in the world and it felt like a burden to ask for things with dinner and room sevice. Whilst our stay was pleasent enough the cons outweigh the pros, we have stayed here numerous times in the past and I'm not sure when this hotel reopened but they seem to be quite unorganized from the moment we checked in. Our package included a few things with reception staff not knowing where to send us or how our package was to work and also had to check if our room was ready. We had afternoon tea in Hop cafe, which was some very tasty spicy chicken wings (highlight of the stay) Our dinner which was included in Woods restaurant, was quite lacklustre and honestly if it wasn't included in our stay I would be very disappointed in the quality and cost, menu was quite limited, starters were ok not much flavour, a flank steak only that was luke warm with zero type of salad/veg included on the plate for a cost of 42$, (see picture) literally just a piece of steak with some sauce, the pasta was tasty though, couldn't fault that dish. Choices of sides which were an extra cost, of which one was forgotten but rectified quickly with an apology. Dessert was ok. Our room and bathroom were clean and tidy which is a plus of course, we had a nice view out across to the city, glass was dirty though, but can't be cleaned because of the way it is glazed with the building. The Chromecast feature was handy with the TV, a little flakey but it worked, no paytv channels in the way of Foxtel, on demand movie selection was ok (we didn't buy any) Had a decent sleep, room was dark which is always good, bed was comfy enough even though the sheets felt like hospital bedding. There is room service 24/7 and we wanted a hot chocolate and a couple cold drinks later in the evening, hot chocolate wasn't available because it "too late" (10:30pm) even though other drinks were available 24hrs, but we received our cold drinks in a timely fashion. We decided not to have our included breakfast and stayed in our room for the morning, with a phone call from reception coming at 11am asking us when we're checking out??? Late checkout of 2pm was included in our package, which was all over the paperwork, the need to call us and ask highlighted to me how unorganized the hotel is. After all that, our only real highlight were the spicy chicken wings. I always try to see the positive in places but there are just to many negatives to list this time round. Unfortunately a hotel that we've stayed at with great experiences multiple times through the years now won't see us return for business or pleasure trips in the near future. I really hope this changes and the hotel gets back to it's...
