I have passed this place a few times. You hear rumours on the St Kilda strip about how terrible the food/service is but because I hadn't been myself & I am not one to pass judgment until I have experienced it myself.

However, today was that day.

The sun was out, the vibes at the office were up. I put my hand up for choosing team lunch. To everyone's surprise, I suggested Hops Garden - which later I now realise was the most damaging professional decision of my entire career.

The food was absolutely uninspired garbage. The quality was on par with a broke school cafeteria. Fried food that looks and tastes like it was out of a frozen bag. Pathetic salads wilted, reamed with oil, and an iced tea which I would closely associate with an after-school care's attempt at a kid's juice.

The service was weak but only due to one poor woman serving the entire beer garden. The attitude is excused due to a lack of support this place so badly is screaming for.

Sadly, the Hops rumours are true. The people that were there, weren't really eating which is always a red flag. $40 worth of disappointment, money too good to spend at a place like this.

Just when you think there isn't a bad place to eat in Melbourne, you come across Hops Garden. Horrible and...

Title: A Hidden Gem for Coffee Enthusiasts!

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I reside next door to Hope Garden but had never ventured in due to my limited interest in alcohol. However, during the Christmas week holidays, I decided to give it a shot for a coffee fix. What a revelation! The ambience is nothing short of incredible. The moment you step in, you're embraced by a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it the perfect spot for a cozy catch-up.

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of coffee options they offer, each crafted with precision. The attention to detail in both the decor and service truly sets Hope Garden apart. It's no wonder the place is bustling with patrons during peak hours; the charm is simply irresistible.

Whether you're a regular or just dropping by, this place has a magical way of making you feel at home. It's not just a coffee shop; it's a haven for those seeking a delightful escape. Kudos to the team at Hope Garden for creating such a wonderful space. I've found my new favorite spot, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality coffee experience or a great place to catch up...

Pretty basic menu but that’s ok if it’s executed well, which it isn’t. A bit of comfort foid was what we sought so 3 of us chose the ‘classic America burger’ seduced by the promise of that brisket & chuck beef patty. WOW… no flavor at all.. and certainly no brisket , just gas plate cooked till it’s grey cheap mince that tasted like someone had kept it in the fridge a day too long and didn’t care anymore, certainly not adding spices/flavors to it. No grill taste, certainly no flame nothing and no hint of brisket to be found! ate about half of it and gave up hungry to go buy snacks nearby. Even the kids noted “why does it taste so plain? Meanwhile my wife laboured through (over) fried chicken that tasted like it was rolled in house-dust. A waste in the sense they were charging reasonably high prices for VERY ordinary ingredients. The staff were lovely but that all that can be said about this unfortunate bolt-on money extractor...

Whilst this is quite a nice location and the coffee is reasonable the pizzas are the worst I've had. To be fair I should have known better when there was only 3 pizzas to choose from, but the Margherita I ordered was extremely poor. The base is a reheated frozen base which is then assaulted with an incredible amount of pre grated cheese, strangely slices of tomato are then added along with more cheese (mozzarella slices straight from the brine I expect), once cooked a small sprig of basil is placed in the center. As the pre grated cheese cools on it became a solid movable mass, separate from all other ingredients on the base. Calling this a Margherita is a crime against the Royal Palace of Capodimonte and all who've enjoyed the simplicity and restraint of a hand stretched dough, hand crushed tomatoes, some mozzarella, basil and olive oil.
