FAT JAK'S ST. KILDA — Restaurant in Melbourne

My partner and I walked in here for lunch after I injured my ankle at work and had to take the afternoon off. It has been a good long while since I last checked out a good Burger place and we were NOT disappointed coming to Fat Jaks!

The chef definitely knows how to make a good burger; quality ingredients and no nasties in the meat patty. The loaded fries are just as good, with generous toppings and great flavour combinations. The menu options are plenty, with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options also available. Unlimited soft drink refills and a dessert menu are the cherry on top.

What's more is the service. Aman, the owner, was attentive, kind and genuinely turned my very average day upsidedown. Thank you mate 🙏

We ordered the 'FatJak' and 'Chicky T Chic' burgers as well as the 'Gravy Baby' and 'Fullmoon' loaded fries. I never would have thought that Satay & Cheese would be such a good flavor profile for loaded fries!

The real winner of the show, however, was the loaded donuts that Aman surprised us with after we had eaten - reminiscent of a hot jam donut, but SO much better! These one's aren't filled with Jam and certainly don't need it as they are loaded with White Chocolate and crushed Oreo. What a treat!

We’ve been to Fat Jaks couple of times, because we stayed at nomands in Melbourne. Our first visit was 5 months ago and we just visited today for our last time because we leaving the country😕 On our first day here in australia we did grab lunch there so did we today on our last day and the food didn’t disappoint. But the biggest legend there was the bald guy (sorry don’t know the name😭) at the cashier, Never been to a restaurant or fast food place with such good service… 5 months ago when we first been there he welcomed us with a smile and this awesome service he was so nice recommended us different things and took his time to explain us everything in detail. This was my first conversation in australia and i felt so welcomed. Today we are sadly leaving for good but stopped by at fat jaks for a last time and he still was there, just the kindness how he treats the customers and how respectful he spoke to the other staff members and his positive vibe blew me away. Just a legend legitimately the best service ever. He really paid atttention to the details brought us the food, filled my cup with water and they didn’t had that on the menu. After being a weekly regular of the original st kilda store and unfortunately moving away from the area and only being able to enjoy their amazing food when I was back on that side of town I was very very happy to hear that there was a new fat yaks store opening near my new house in altona. Unfortunately this joy was very short lived. Stkilda fat yaks would never miss and was always on point every time iv been there now sometimes every week for years. Last night myself and my wife ordered from fat jaks altona north only to be very very disappointed! It was nothing at all like the food from the original store it was like a frozen dinner copy you would pull out of the freezer. No care taken making the Parma’s barely any toppings small serve of chips and all and all just a big let down and flop. As a successful business owner if I had franchised out my company and the first store to open under my title was producing my products like this I would be asking them to close there doors. If I could give a no star rating that’s what I would be giving. Some more serious training needs to be done by there cooks very soon before I see this store...
