From Here by Mike pitches itself as a top end restaurant, with prices to match, but completely failed to live up to that billing. On arrival we were summarily seated at the table next to the front desk which is adjacent to the noisy bar area and to the seating where people wait before their booking, and was surrounded on 2 sides by a metal grill that felt like cyclone fencing. The person who indicated our table did not ask if I would like to hang my jacket. We were not offered aperitifs. After receiving the menu, 10 minutes later we were given a very cursory run-down of the specials board, which was then taken away. Nobody asked if we wanted to order wine (we did) or other drinks. The waiter came and took our order for food, and we had to stop him from going before we ordered a bottle of wine too. Our food was delivered to the table literally 4 minutes after we ordered and was cool, not hot - it felt like it had been sitting on the counter waiting for someone to order it. No wine appeared - we had to ask where it was, and ask again when our side dishes were delivered. Finally 5 minutes later the wine arrived. The mains we ordered were the porcetta, and it was a slab of meat with some sort of overcooked green veg hiding underneath, the meal was basically cold and quite dry in parts. It tasted ok but not particularly good. Definately not high class cuisine. Dessert was much better. The chocolate mousse was excellent and my wife's fruit tartlette was also very good. Everything felt rushed and it was like they wanted the table for another sitting but nothing was said when we booked. Where we were seated did not feel part of the restaurant proper - we were not inside the restaurant proper but still paid full prices. Overall an extremely disappointing experience. As residents in the building we had thought we could bring visitors and friends to this restaurant, but paying these sort of prices for very average food and service, it just doesn't cut the mustard for a high end restaurant, and based on this experience we...

What we had here:
Freshly shucked oysters, Our chicken liver pate, Wanderers beef tartare, Grilled skull island prawns, Wood roasted aurum cockerel (small male chicken) Roasted Valenca free range porchetta (goat), Brussel sprouts and roasted pumpkin, Frangipane tart, Steamed marmalade suet pudding
Oh my everything we had here, we couldn’t fault it also the flavours are super unique and delicious especially the ingredients and combination of spices used are super great and will surprise you in a good way. I’m already making dinner reservations here for a date night.
Highlights for me were the beef tartare, porchetta, island prawns, and pudding. (Highly recommended)
The service was excellent, shoutout to Jonathan (he was our server and super helpful and friendly) and Rose at concierge (for helping with parking and giving us a tour of this beautiful hotel)
I can’t wait to go back and try the cocktails here at the bars, and probably a staycation too.
And guess what the prices of the menu at this restaurant is quite reasonable considering the high quality food being served here. Also we paired our food with local Victorian wines and some...

The whole experience was immaculate from being ushered to the restaurant from the entrance to being warmly guided through each course. The service is professional, warm and unpretentious.
We started off with some of the best oysters we’ve ever, this set the tone for the rest of the dishes. The standard was maintained throughout. The standouts were the duck, the porchetta (perfectly balanced, not too fatty with a raisin and hazelnut sauce that complement meat perfectly), and all the desserts.
The staff recommended cocktails to go with our meal, and I particularly enjoyed the Ruby Negroni. Probably the best cocktail I’ve had all year.
The vibes are great in the restaurant and lobby bar. Can be on the loud side, although perfect for getting lost in the moment.
Highly...
