I was worried when my Dad said, “Let’s catch up for coffee with toasties or an omelet for breakfast.” He is very fussy with his coffee, toasties, and omelet. Fingers crossed when I decided to have our breakfast catch-up at Hangar Café Restaurant on Spencer Street. When we arrived, friendly staff greeted us. As we cannot decide what to have, he suggested taking the menu to the table and deciding what to have. As usual, my Dad decided to have his omelet served with toasted bread and flat white coffee and I had cheese ham croissant with long black coffee. Five minutes later our order was served by a waiter with a beautiful smile. Even though it is cloudy outside, she shines up like a sunny day. Normally my Dad will start complaining about his coffee or breakfast meal after his first sip or bite. I just realized that my Dad was silent sipping his coffee and almost a quarter of his omelet was gone. He is smiling and closing his eyes like he is enjoying his favorite Beethoven music. Just to reconfirm what I thought, I asked him, “How’s your coffee and an omelet?” He replied with a smile and two thumbs up. See the pictures of how cheerful he is. To the Hangar Café Restaurant, I salute all of you with excellent customer service, delicious food, and good coffee. The most important thing, you made my Dad happy. Keep up good teamwork.

We've come twice in the last couple of days for the Express lunch menu. $10 with a heap of options available, and definitely not bad for the price. Rated down for a few factors however. Service on the first visit was pretty horrid. Server just glared at me like I was a flea and I was wasting his time and didnt want to be there. We had sat next to a lady whom we overheard they'd ignored her request for no pepper on her food due to an allergy and then became agitated with her when she asked to send it back. Today the food came out semi cold, but the main complaint was the lack of cleaning. We.sat in for about 30 minutes, and I watched no less than six tables sitting there dirty for that time frame. Even when they were cleared, there was no wipe down. For the peak of flu season, that's various shades of disappointment. All in all, for the price it isn't bad. Theres just room for improvement.

After a big shop for some new clothes at Spencer Outlet Centre, I had was feeling quite peckish. So we visited Hangar, a cafe next to Harris Scarfe. They serve a range of burgers, pasta and salads alongside coffee, milkshakes and smoothies. The first thing about the restaurant that leaps out at you is the amazing natural light coming through the side. You can view all the pedestrians and traffic walk by, its really fantastic. We tried some items from the $10 express lunch menu. The steak was a nice thin and lean cut, with crispy fries and a garden salad on the side. Really impressive for it’s price point. The calamari & quinoa salad was also a hit, especially since we ordered extra calamari! This is a good dish to share if you’re not feeling super hungry. With good food, fast service and a great view, I recommend checking out Hangar Cafe when you’re next in the city.

PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE made the poor decision of coming here for breakfast. before we even sat down we were ignored at the counter for almost 5 minutes until the staff were ready to take our order.

my partner and i ordered 2 meals and 2 coffees. the restaurant didn’t have any small tables that were clean and as the restaurant only had a few free tables that sat 6+ people, we decided to sit at a small table and ask a staff member to take the previous customers dishes.

5 minutes went by and out meals came out. only the plates from the previous customers were taken.

i went up and asked a staff member at the counter a 2nd time to clean out table as all of the other tables had been cleaned at this point. this did not happen.

it was only after my partner had finished his food for his coffee to come out.

my coffee came out 10 minutes after his and i was finished at the point.

i asked the waiter for a refund and was ignored again as he asked the barista on what to do.

i then explained the waiter what had happened and they refused to provide me a refund.

please do not make the mistake of coming here - absolutely poor service and...

Visited during a busy hour -the staffs did not seem to have roles allocated which makes things worse-, had to ask to get our table cleaned which I'm OK with when it's busy. But I ordered a breakfast meal which didn't arrive even after other people who ordered after me had their meals arrived and I had to ask the staff where my order was. The staffs did not seem apologetic by any means but had 'we're busy, why do you have to ask and not wait' type of faces. ...their time is important but not mine? Sure. Then the food itself: one of the poached eggs had suspicious black dust over it and I had to remove part of the egg - who knows where it could have rolled before it arrived on my plate? I would have definitely complained about this if I didn't have a train to catch in 15 mins. Also tasted like they put too much vinegar when making it. The smashed avo also tasted oddly very sour for some reason that I couldn't eat more than 1/3. The live piano was the only positive experience. $16.5 was very overpriced for a substandard meal with...
