This place looks the goods with the beautiful Hong Kong inspired decor however I feel that the taste didn't completely meet my expectations.
It is the first time we have eaten at this particular restaurant but I have eaten in Cantonese restaurants and cafes in Hong Kong and here many times before.
The food was a little bland with the exception of a very nice pineapple bun and milk tea.
I found the restaurant staff to be a little pushy as well for the small things for example we had already placed a $70+ order for two people and paid upfront but my wife wanted to take some of the leftovers of one dish home. We asked for a take away box and the waitress brought us one and said we needed to pay for it at the counter at the end "which is fair enough" however they proceeded to come over to the table multiple times to clear the "bill" .55c I gave her 50c as I forgot about the weekend surcharge and had 50c in my wallet however they made me go to the front and pay for it on card instead which I thought was weird. Once again probably not a problem with the waitress staff but maybe a management problem of them being a bit too stingy with customers.
Personally I think there is a bit to be improved in the restaurant and wouldn't really choose to come here to eat a full meal again maybe just to have a pineapple...
Read moreBeing from Hong Kong, I was attracted to this joint because their restaurant logo and decorations had taken heavy inspiration from that of the cafe chain named 敏華冰廳(Men Wah Bing Teng) from back home. Their decorations were at least partially representative of HK cafes, a cure for homesickness.
We ordered their 滑LULU滑蛋叉燒飯 (smooth/creamy/buttery scrambled eggs with cha siu on rice), 乾炒牛河 (stir fried beef noodles), signature milk tea, and iced lemon tea for lunch.
Their milk tea was pretty good and enjoyable, but the egg and cha siu rice, the stir fried beef noodles, and the lemon tea were below average in quality, with the egg and cha siu rice and lemon tea being very disappointing.
Their egg and cha siu rice, being described as 滑LULU, which in Cantonese would roughly translate to smooth, creamy, and buttery, were sadly dry and tasteless.
The bigger disappointment was their iced lemon tea, which didn’t taste like tea at all, and the lemon slices weren’t juicy enough to save the drink. I left the drink half unfinished, which is testament to how badly the drink was made on the day.
Perhaps better...

Food 3.5/5 *Some dishes were really good like the truffle dishes *Some dishes like the club Sandwich and the chips were very average *Drinks are really nice like the deconstructured coffee! *Pepper beef steak was soft enough, but a little expensive for what it's worth
Value 3/5 *Most things here are either too expensive for what it's worth or just right. Depending what you get here it's a hit or miss
