Definitely not as good as the reviews say this place is. I ordered a chicken family pack for lunch and I don't know where to start. The biriyani was tasteless and it seemed just like some saffron rice mixed with white rice. The chicken was very dry and seemed old. Their chicken 65 was pretty good although they only gave a few small pieces for the apparent serving of 5 people. The raithi was runny and tasteless. I tried this place for the first time and I would not go there again. Not worth the $55 I spent. Response to owner: I am a foodie and I have eaten dum biriyani at many Indian restaurants across Victoria and so I definitely do know what an authentic dum biriyani should taste like, and it was not like the one I had today. I'd have to say this restaurant is on the lower end of the scale. If you need recommendations on restaurants where authentic dum biriyani is made please reach out. I do'n't really mind if it was first or last from the pot and I did not mind waiting the 15min, it should have not been dry and tasteless. As for your statement that the chicken 65 was complementary, that is false as your menu said that the pack included the chicken 65, so I'm not too sure where you are going with that.

One of the worst management, I have ever came across in Melbourne, not only in Melbourne in the whole world.. we ordered Chicken biriyani and that was waste and taste less with no salt, no masala, in my opinion its not at all a Biriyani. The most funny part of this conversation is when we say that the Biriyani is taste less they offered us Salt to mix in the Biriyani( I think this is the first restaurant in the world who offered salt separately). When we suggest that the biriyani is taste less they started shouting on us and threated. The way they deal is not at all a good way of maintaining the customer relationships , we left the restaurant without having our dinner, because we were soo scared with their rude behavior. My Daughter was so scared and cried by seeing all this. If you want to go there please think at least hundred times and take care of yourself, in my opinion its too risky. You can also review others reviews also, if I am wrong. NOTE: I don't have option to select Zero star, that's why giving one star.

So we got the large value pack for dinner as I finished work and me and my partner didn't want to cook. The tone was already off when I got the food, as it already was missing all the rice, a piece of garlic naan, gave us Samosas instead of fritters and was given the impression that we'd be getting a litre coke and not a can to share (granted it didn't say litre but it felt weird for 1 can between potentially two to three people for a meal). For $69 total including delivery, the butter chicken was nice but watery sauce, same with the lamb korma, the garlic naan was pretty good and the Samosas were good as well and unexpectedly soft. The food was overall good but for $60+ I was expecting better quality food as well as all of our items being present. I feel comfortable to say I'd likely avoid this place in future as there are some other places I've had better take away service at a cheaper rate (would've gone there tonight if they weren't closed)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Truly the Best Hyderabadi Biryani in Dandenong – Hyderabad Darbaar

If you're looking for authentic Hyderabadi cuisine, Hyderabad Darbar in Dandenong is a hidden gem that truly delivers. From the moment you arrive, everything about the experience is smooth, welcoming, and full of flavor.

First off, parking is a breeze – there’s plenty of space right in front of the restaurant, which makes the visit stress-free, especially if you're coming with family or in a group. There was no waiting time, even during peak hours, which shows how well the team is organized.

Now let’s talk about the food – absolutely incredible. Their Hyderabadi Dum Biryani is on another level. Rich in flavor, perfectly spiced, with aromatic rice and tender meat that melts in your mouth. It’s exactly what you would expect from traditional Hyderabadi cooking – if not better. Every bite is a burst of authenticity and care.

The menu also offers a variety of delicious Indian dishes, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Everything is cooked fresh, served hot, and tastes exactly the way it should – bold, satisfying, and made with love.

A special shout-out to Chef Azim, who was incredibly helpful, kind, and clearly passionate about his food. His hospitality and attention to detail really stood out and made the experience even more memorable.

Highlights:

Best Hyderabadi Biryani in the area – authentic and full of flavor

Plenty of easy parking right out front

No waiting time – quick and efficient service

Warm hospitality, especially from Chef Azim

Wide selection of traditional Indian dishes

Great for families, groups, or casual dinners

Overall, Hyderabad Darbar sets a high standard for Indian restaurants in Melbourne. If you're anywhere near Dandenong, this is the place to go for a taste of real Hyderabadi food. Highly recommended wil...

If zero stars were possible, this place would get them

The worst restaurant experience of my life — Hyderabad Darbar Restaurant, Dandenong.

I’ve eaten at countless places, but I have never encountered such disgusting food and horrible customer service before. We ordered Tandoori Chicken (half plate, four pieces), and to my shock, the chicken was spoiled — black on the inside, clearly gone bad. It was literally rotten meat.

When I politely brought it to the attention of the front-end woman, instead of apologizing or checking properly, she rudely snapped back and only took one piece to show the chef — even after I told her that all four pieces were spoiled. Her tone was full of arrogance, as if she was doing me a favor by even listening. There was zero professionalism and absolutely no respect for customers.

I was planning to order biryani afterward, but thank God I didn’t. I lost my appetite completely after seeing how unhygienic and careless they were with the food.

When I confronted them again, their attitude turned even worse. They became defensive, spoke rudely, and even started using foul language as we were leaving. We didn’t want to escalate things, so we just walked out — but the frustration and disgust from that experience are still stuck in my head.

This place deserves to be inspected by food authorities. Serving spoiled meat and behaving rudely toward customers is unacceptable. I’ll never step into this restaurant again, and I strongly advise others to avoid Hyderabad Darbar Restaurant, Dandenong...

We ordered the goat and chicken briyani with the chicken 65. Chicken 65 was yummy but only 3 pieces in a small circle tub, they didn't even bother to give us 2 other pieces to fill in the obvious gaps of space. It was stingey of them and too spicy. Should be medium unless someone asks. The chicken biriyani was barely seasoned and chicken was dry. The goat biriyani was just tasteless, weird tasting like it was cooked in some vinegary thing without any masala on the goat pieces and hardly anything on the rice. The goat was cooked well but tasted weird again, no seasoning. The sauce/gravy was watery and nothing and the raita was warm and watery. We really should have asked for a refund. We spent $43 and most of it went in the bin. For a Hyderabadi place what a shame. We used to order from there when it was under diff management and was hoping this was better. Unfortunately, this was worse than some North indian biriyani. I feel sad and shocked that i have had to give this review.

thankyou Hyderabad Darbar for your reply. I do actually appreciate you getting back to me. And I also want to give a good review and believe in second chances so I will accept the complimentary meal as ordered on the day (chicken 65 and...
