As an individual of refined taste and intellectual rigor, I ventured into Industry Beans expecting an exquisite coffee experience. Instead, what I received was an affront to the very essence of caffeine consumption which was an egregious miscarriage of both customer service and beverage craftsmanship.
To begin with, my request was simple, nay, elementary: a coffee that is sweet. Now, a competent barista, endowed with a modicum of integrity, would have informed me that such an offering did not exist within their repertoire. Instead, the individual behind the counter, perhaps suffering from a severe case of caffeine-induced delirium, recommended the bubble coffee. A misnomer if I have ever encountered one, for this concoction bore no resemblance to coffee, nor did it exhibit any semblance of an enjoyable beverage.
Upon first sip, I was greeted with a flavor so offensive, so odious, that it conjured memories of the medicinal syrup I was subjected to in my youth liquids specifically engineered not for enjoyment, but for the sole purpose of torturing one’s taste buds into submission. And as if this was not sufficiently reprehensible, the beverage had the audacity to become even worse as it cooled. With each passing moment, its already abominable taste devolved further into an abysmal abyss of wretchedness. It was as though the coffee itself was actively conspiring against me, revealing new depths of horror with every second it remained in my possession.
And let us address the financial injustice: eight dollars. Eight whole dollars for this vile affront to the sanctity of coffee. Had I been of lesser intelligence, I might have assumed that this exorbitant price was indicative of quality. Alas, I was deceived, defrauded, and bamboozled. To add insult to injury, my disappointment was entirely preventable had the barista simply exercised the most rudimentary level of honesty and disclosed that their menu was utterly devoid of anything remotely sweet.
Industry Beans, I implore you, nay, I demand that you either rectify this tragic mockery of a coffee establishment or cease operations entirely to prevent further crimes against humanity’s collective taste buds. Until such an improbable day arrives, I shall advise all who value their hard-earned money and their dignity to steer clear of this glorified cafe of...
Read moreCured Kingfish Pleasantly surprised by the spice level. Didn't expect it to be quite so spicy but a welcome addition to the citrus and tang of the entire dish. Fish was a little fishy (in a bad way) but otherwise flavours were awesome. Seaweed crisp could be more crispy.
Prawn buns Meh. Wasn't outstanding, wasn't bad. Wouldn't order again though. Fish roe provided nice salty flavour bombs throughout but otherwise it wasn't awesome. Buns weren't toasted much to my disappointment but were fresh enough that they were soft and fluffy. Needed a bit of texture.
Bubble coffee NOT bubble tea with coffee. Wasn't black pearls but actually sago. Still a nice drink but when I read of their special blend of 'condensed milk and soy milk (consoy)', I was expecting something similar to Vietnamese coffee but it was pretty regular. Hot coffee was also added to cold milk which made the milk curdle and I had all these bits of milk floating around.
Chilli barramundi folded eggs Disappointed by lack of barramundi. Was just eggs with flakes of fish in some pockets. Addition of succulents was strange because it gave a bit of a grassy aftertaste. If it was to add texture then perhaps fried shallots would've kept with the Asian theme a little more. Bonito flakes reinforced the fish flavour and gave it nice smokiness but doesn't cover up the lack of actual barramundi. Again, dish is quite spicy.
Creme brulee Bloody brilliant. Espresso foam complimented the dish very well. The orange bits in the custard were like pockets of treasure. The lemon balm garnish was genius. Harmonious melody of flavours. Only gripe I have, it was either too warm in the kitchen or the torching of the sugar was too intense resulting in the custard melting a little.
Would come back to try other dishes especially their beef dishes which sounded quite interesting. Love to see more and more cafes incorporating Asian ingredients/flavours into brunch. There is definitely an air of grandeur to the place being surrounded by large windows however it becomes very uncomfortable when the afternoon sun is shining right in your face. And of course coffee is great but you have about 20 other reviews telling you...
Read moreI just wanted to pass along some feedback about our visit yesterday and an apology as well. My friend and I came in for a late lunch around 3:45 pm on Sunday (31/8/25) and were greeted by a lovely waitress with dark hair, who was very kind and professional. She gave us menus and asked if we wanted still or sparkling water. I asked for regular water, and she brought it over right away.
Unfortunately, right as she was bringing the water, we realized we had to leave unexpectedly. It was a bit awkward because we had to get up just as she arrived, and in the rush, I accidentally knocked over the glass she brought. She seemed a bit surprised and confused by the whole situation.
I really just wanted to let you know that she handled it all very gracefully and professionally. We felt bad for the little mishap and for having to leave so suddenly after she put in the effort to welcome us. We didn’t catch her name, but she really made a positive impression despite the awkward timing.
Will definitely be back because we liked the environment and the service we received, and I wanted to apologize to her for the inconvenience. Thanks again, and I’d really appreciate if you could pass this message...
