Juicy Dumplings On Chapel — Restaurant in Melbourne

Avoid this place. We had already been here once and thought we would give it another go as restaurants have bad nights but I was so wrong. We should never have gone back.

We had to take the plates up and clean the table ourselves. Spray and wipe.. Asked for water totally forgotten about. We ordered 2 dishes then close to 10 minutes later ordered another 2 dishes. We got one from each order. I asked the waitress where the spring onion pancake was, she said she will find out. The the other waitress came out asked what was still to come, we told her what was left. Then after everything was eaten the first waitress came out with another pancake which she had already seen and when we told her it was already eaten she said have you paid, I said yes and she said I'll check. So we waited nothing happened so I went in and it was like she didn't even remember anything that had happened. The juicy dumplings had no juice at all. The spring onion pancake and wontons were so oily it was not funny.. all the dumplings are frozen you can see them when you order. Please if you want good dumplings go to Toorak Road - Punt Road end and you won't be disappointed. If you don't know anything about food you will probably like this place. Dumplings were so amazing - both gluten-free and non gluten-free. The xiaolongbao soup was perfect and the wrapping thickness was also just right. The pork in the pan fried pork dumplings were also really delicious. The gluten free dumplings were probably one of the best GF dumplings I've ever tried, and from short conversations, the staff seemed like they really cared and are very careful about cross-contamination -which was really good to see. They were out of the pork GF dumpling which was a shame but I think it's definitely worth another trip back here. Plus they have frozen GF dumplings for sale so we can finally stock up on proper meat dumplings and not the subpar supermarket ones. But most importantly - THE SATAY. Best satay i've ever tried tbh. It was phenomenal. Not sure why others commented on bad service or the cleanliness but I had a different experience - the lady taking my order was very friendly, and the place is as clean as a common diner or any chinese place in the city. The only complaint I have is that it's not located in the CBD for me to access it a lot easier.

Service is bad and rude. I noticed my dumplings were undercooked after they finally came out. They were cold, some were still icy frozen on the inside. I told them about it, thinking that they would rectify it. They threw it away as I continued to sit there and wait for a resolution. When I asked them what happened to the dumplings, they said they thought I didn't want it any more so they threw it out. (This is after I had already paid for my meal), no solutions given. I said, that's fine, you can refund me for the food I wasn't given. That's when they said they would replace them.

Did they replace them? Well the food they gave to me in a takeaway container were the exact ones I gave to them, they were now cooked, only there was bits of black markings on them ( I assume dirt). I went home and threw it in the bin. I don't trust them, they gave no care to their food or customers.
