KFC Spencer St — Restaurant in Melbourne

Possibly the Worst KFC Experience in Melbourne...Stopped in for a quick snack before catching my train and deeply regret choosing this KFC. It took nearly 20 minutes just to receive a Go Bucket. They had around 6 hosts including 1 or 2 managers working on the front counter and somehow each order took MINIMUM 3 minutes to hand out. And every meal was a small combo or box meal not a shared meal. This delay is so unnecessary since they definitely weren't short staffed (if anything over staffed as they don't have a drive through and their front counter could not fit everyone packing food), there was no shortage of chickens and there was no wait on burgers as they were all stacking the chute waiting literal minutes for it to be packed. As someone who has worked in fast food, I understand how things can get hectic—but this wasn’t that. It was clear disorganisation and lack of urgency. Even worse, several team members were just standing around in front of the counter, not assisting or moving with purpose - hence why i think they're over staffed for the night. This kind of service is unacceptable at any fast-food restaurant, let alone one without a drive-thru!!! Definitely the slowest and most poorly run KFC I’ve been to...

Earlier today, I ordered your newly advertised kebab for my young son, expecting a well-constructed and satisfying meal. What we received, however, was nothing short of a mess - a small slider awkwardly wrapped in an oversized flatbread, held together with all the integrity of a wet tissue. The moment my son attempted to eat it, the contents spilled out completely. He began to cry, disheartened and hungry.

In the midst of this ordeal, I took out my phone (iPhone 15 Pro Max - 2024 model, titanium body, A17 Pro chip, 48MP camera) to speak with a colleague. As I did so, I was openly laughed at by several staff members behind the counter. Whether their ridicule was directed at my conversation, my son’s distress, or the situation at large, I cannot say - but the mockery was loud, unprofessional, and deeply humiliating.

I left the store immediately, returning to my vehicle (BMW X3 - 2016 model, leather interior, panoramic sunroof, all-wheel drive) and drove away, shocked and frankly appalled.

I expect far better from an international brand. This experience left not just a poor taste in the mouth, but genuine frustration. I urge management to seriously reconsider both staff training and the quality of the product...

They make some of the best KFC in most of Melbourne. Their wicked wings are the absolute best fresh out of the bag. Only complaint is the seating area is always filthy due to the high turnover of patrons and there is no bin close by for people to even do the right thing and clear their own table. Which is a little crazy. Probably not down to the shop though but the station. One of the tables is also missing. Would be nice to have more places to sit especially if you have a group of 4. Your only option close by are the filthy steps of southern cross station on the questionable metal street seats that have no tables. Seriously best chicken and chips! And thats what keeps me coming back. So happy they just opened here as the one on Collins...
