One of the best, classic and, authentic Indian restaurant is still making our curry dreams come true in Melbourne. @letajmelbourne specialises in the truest flavours of the Indian curries, and tandoori meat right here in the heart of Melbourne

What we had here:

Le Taj Tandoori platter, everything in this spread is exceptionally tasty, has the perfect balance of smokiness and spiciness, juicy, tender meat from chicken to lamb kebabs and tikkas. Must try.

Le Taj Special Lamb Bhuna Kadhai Wala, absolutely mouth melting, packed with rich flavours, and truly divine. You’ll lose yourself in it’s irresistible taste. Highly recommend.

Mutter Paneer, a beautiful and classic paneer dish, which is perfect for cold winter nights. So satisfying, mildly spicy yet very flavoursome. Perfect to eat this curry with some naan

Garlic and cheese naan, so perfectly flaky, soft, yummy Indian flat bread.

Chicken Mughlai Biriyani, once again very classic, tasted so real, lovely comforting flavours, with juicy tender chicken. Must try.

We had our with a glass of moscato and a rose, and both were very good, went so well with our food.

For desserts, we tried the Nutella naan, it’s something really unique and the Nutella flavour isn’t too overwhelming in this, tasted more like a regular naan with a hint of Nutella. This was an okay from me. Wouldn’t recommend this one.

The vibe here is very classy and truly a best place to have a celebratory dinner/lunch with your fam. Or even perfect for date night because of the moody and charming ambiance.

The prices are standard and the service is friendly and attentive. The staff here are all very polite, welcoming and kind humans.

So make your Friday night worthwhile by having a delicious and fabulous Indian dinner tonight...

Visited this restaurant for the first time with family. Loved the ambience and service. The waitress was polite and hospitable. The toilets were clean, which is a big tick for me. The food was average and very small quality. The bill was the final surprise!!!! Everything was overcharged than what was stated on the menu, for example, dal was listed as $20.50. Onion bhajia $11.50 on the physical menu but the bill was charged at $22.50 for dal and $15.50 for the onion bhajia. There is no breakdown of how much taxes have been included on top of the listed price on the bill. I found it very unethical, even if the menu in fine print says taxes are extra. In fact ACCC states "Advertised prices for goods and services to the public should include the Goods and Services Tax". Why bother putting any prices on your menu at all if they are subject to change. You do need to do a bit of research on the ACCC website, it is not legal for you to charge higher prices than displayed, even with you fine print disclaimer “subject to change”. And about your comment on me being on tight budget and should only ordering what’s in my budget, that’s what I did mate based on the prices displayed on your menu. Ever heard of...

I am sure its hard to believe that its another year and many of you Indians stuck here can’t be home for Diwali. Same as I felt, I took a road down nostalgia and indulged in some Indian fine dining and had a delicious pre- diwali dinner at Le taj

Consider going to Le-taj if you have tremendous love for Indian dishes. Positioned in the heart of West Melbourne near queen VIC Market. it is among the best curry restaurants I have explored to enjoy a proper sit down fine dine Indian Dinner.

The place caters to all the needs of diners and offers mild, medium, and hot cuisines. Make sure to try their hot and spicy chef’s special bhun lamb vindaloo and do not miss the paneer naan.

These people claim to be Melbourne's finest Indian restaurant, and I've certainly never been in a finer one. We are infrequent visitors to Melbourne and at some point our favourite Indian closed down for good, so we picked this as it was close to where we were staying and seemed well reviewed. From the start, the service was amazing. We were given the seat under the giant wall painting of a peacock that is also the front page of the menu. The entree was my favourite Onion Bhajjis, simply better than any I have had elsewhere. Mains we have Butter Chicken (Not too sweet, nice cumin flavour), Kashmiri Pulao (again, A dish I have all the time, best I have ever tasted) , Makhani Dhal (nice texture, not sloppy) and the Chicken Shahi Korma, which was really nice. Butter Naan was good but Aloo Paratha was sensational. Can't recommend this place enough, and they are the nicest people, warm and friendly.
