ORDERED: Warung Agus' mix set menu ($60.00pp) 🌽 Begedel: 4 pieces fried corn and mushroom fritters served with a tamarind, coconut sauce 🥑 Avocado in coconut: avocado with a mushroom and coconut cream sauce 🍚 Rice and yellow rice: cooked with tumeric, dash of coconut milk and garlic and onion 🍢 Sate Ayam (I think we had minced fish skewers that night though!) 🐔 Grilled chicken in lemongrass 🍆 Eggplant & Tofu 🐷 Babi Guling: Balinese roasted pork with crackling, served with a candlenut, lemongrass, chilli, ginger 🍝 Mie Goreng
REVIEW Never have I ever had avocado with rice before. Having it sit in creamy light coconut milk made it one of the most interesting and refreshing dishes - which I imagine would be suitable for the humid Bali climate.
The fish skewers were also fun to eat, with how minced it was but also quite delicious. Wish I had more than a stick!! Also big shout out to the roast pork that I wish I had more room in my stomach for. It was tender and fatty, with the crackling perfectly snapping in your mouth.
Service is friendly and after this generous servicing, we were presented with MORE dishes. I could only wish to more of an introduction about the dishes just to gain a better appreciation of the food I was about to consume.
Warung Agus only do walk in and set menus, and they're vegan friendly! They're able to customise the set menus as well so it's definitely worth sussing if you want to try...
Read moreGenuinely my number one favorite restaurant in all of Melbourne. I have recommended it to everyone I know, from close friends to a random cinema attendant, because everyone deserves to taste what I firmly believe is the best food in Melbourne.
As an Indonesian who goes to Bali often, I know this is a wild claim, but I honestly think the babi guling at Warung Agus is better than any I’ve had in Bali. Of course, you can disagree with me, but this is my opinion, and I am standing by it. I will forever be grateful to the friend who introduced me to this place because my first experience eating here was nothing short of unreal.
I came in with zero expectations, but the moment I took a spoonful of their babi guling, my eyes went O_O. I could not believe how good it was. Heaven in my mouth. I wanted to cry tears of joy. The meat was so flavorful, and the sauce elevated it to another level of perfection. Pair that with the equally delicious urap, and you have a meal that feels like it was made by angels.
I hope Warung Agus stays around forever so I can keep coming back again and again. One day, I want to bring my grandkids here (if I have them). Literally I love this place so much that if you guys decide to make Warung Agus merch I...
Read moreWe came here with one mission: Babi Guling. We’d been seriously craving it—and it did not disappoint. Hands down the closest we’ve had to the one in Bali! 😍 FEATURED: 🍸 Strawberry Daiquiri [$17] 🍚 Fragrant Yellow Rice[$5] 🍢 Sate Lilit Ikan [$26] 5 minced, spiced fish skewers 🍗 Ayam Panggang [$30] grilled thigh pieces with lemongrass & tamarind sauce 🐷 Babi Guling [$30] roast pork with crackle, in a candlenut, lemongrass, ginger, and shrimp paste sauce The meat was insanely tender, juicy, full of flavor, and had that perfect crispy skin. 👏
We also tried the fish skewers and grilled chicken thigh—both super tasty in their own way—but the Babi Guling definitely stole the spotlight. So, so good.
I get that some people might think the prices are a bit on the higher side, but honestly? It adds up. There’s so much tradition behind these dishes, and you can tell they go the extra mile sourcing all the right spices and ingredients. It’s worth every cent 😍
You can tell this place is family-run—no shortcuts here. Everything’s fresh, the portions are generous, and the quality is next level.
Also, shoutout to the sauces! Each table comes with three, and we couldn’t stop asking for more sambal matah. That stuff...
