When I went there for dinner I got made to feel completely embarrassed and attacked. I was talking to my friends and the waiter came over to take our order and I didn’t realise. I was in a conversation with my friends and said the f word once and the waiter tapped me on the shoulder and said “no swearing in here.” It was both humiliating and an absolute joke. My friends were also so incredibly shocked. I am so disappointed in this absolute joke of service and singling out of me in the restaurant. We are all adults. We all swear. No need to tap me on the shoulder and tell me off as if you’re my mother. To add onto this, everyone at my table frequently swore and I could hear others at the other tables swear too. Yet I seemed to be the only person who was singled out. Everyone accidentally lets a swear word slip from time to time. When you’re going out for dinner for a relaxing fun night, you should feel free to relax and to be yourself. Not singled out, humiliated and on edge. Food was nice, but the wine glasses were just cheap ones and the table was covered in a sheet of paper. For the price, I think there are many better French restaurants...

Dining at Mon Ami was a truly memorable experience — a little slice of Paris tucked into the heart of Fitzroy. From start to finish, everything was impeccable.
The entrees, mains, and desserts were each divine, showcasing classic French technique with a refined, modern touch. Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour — a true celebration of French cuisine.
We chose a single bottle of wine from the stunning wine wall, and it was a perfect match for the entire meal. The selection process felt special, and the wine itself elevated every course with its depth and character.
And then came the crème brûlée — simply one of the best we've ever eaten. Silky, smooth custard under a flawlessly crisp caramel top — a perfect end to an extraordinary meal.
Mon Ami is a standout — elegant, welcoming, and unforgettable. A must-visit for anyone who loves great food, beautiful wine, and the magic of a well-executed French...
Read moreUnfortunately only 4 stars for this restaurant. The atmosphere is absolutely amazing, small, intimate really got a feeling of being in a France in a small bistro. Really into small detail. They have really good French wine options. And the owner is very nice and friendly. Only let down for me was the food. It was good but something was missing. Definitely lack of seasoning both starter and main. Nice presentation. One detail a French restaurant should have free bread!!! Otherwise it's not a french place... 9 dollars for 6 small slices of bread not right for a french restaurant. You're making enough money with the dishes to offer free bread. But this is a french person talking. I'm sure Australian would not mind. And I would still recommend this place as a great place. Great to...
