We came out to St Andrew’s for a relaxing night.

Booking online via the website resulted in a warm personalised email confirming the booking- taking into consideration a request.

The vibe with soft upbeat music, dimmed lighting, warm and professional staff… the night started out great.

The menu was well balanced with something for a variety of tastes with both a well crafted menus with additional pub meal options to cater for a range of tastes.

We had the baked cheese entree - flavours were perfectly balanced. The lamb cutlets were cooked to perfection and the mix of flavours made our mouths just wanting more.

The pacing of the meal was well managed by staff, with just the right timing allowing for comfortable conversation.

Often at this point in a meal I wonder if we have seen the best a place has to offer with dessert often feeling like an after thought.

However the chocolate brownie … got the spot with a moistness and chocolate texture that coated the mouth m, with quality vanilla ice cream cutting through perfectly.

And then… the late and hot chocolate- created with intention and care.

I don’t often leave reviews, but the service, vibe of the staff, absolute perfection in the flavour balances if the food…. If only I wasn’t so full I would do it all over again.

St Andrew’s Hotel… I was told you were the secret of Fitzroy… and by golly they were right!

Keep doing what you’re doing. I...

Was there for group Xmas lunch. Food was delicious. Generous portion size for a set menu. Staff there was very attentive and lovely. Room was beautifully decorated for xmas functions. Shout out to the two young bartenders (1 in the front room and 1 in the back room). I was looking for a cocktail not on the menu, the bartender in the back room said he couldn't but the front bar has all the ingredients and can make it for me. Front room bartender, although he didn't how to make it was willing to google and make it. Drink was spot on. The other bartender even came over to my table to check if I was able to order my drink. Cudos to both 😀. Only negative (hence 4 star and not 5 star). I found the older barman/ manager rude, unfriendly and grumpy. When i arrived was not welcoming at the door. Asked me "which group"that was it. I dismissed that, then when i went to the bar later to ask for an off menu cocktail, same demeanour. "Don't know what that is, how you make it." Didn't seem like he cared. The young bartender then chimed in and said he would look it up and make it for me. Loved the drink but didn't want to stay for drinks after that. May consider coming back just in case it was a once off. Feedback to the older man is don't make a paying customer feel unwelcome or that you couldn't care less. There are a lot of great bars and pubs around Fitzroy to...

A massive thank you to the St Andrews pub for making our celebration such a memorable and enjoyable experience. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The venue looked stunning, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the entire event ran so smoothly – a true testament to your planning and attention to detail. The food was exceptional – every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with care. We received so many compliments from our guests, with many commenting on how impressed they were with the quality and variety. We were especially blown away by the professionalism and warmth of your staff. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure both we and our guests felt looked after. It made such a difference and really elevated the whole experience. We are incredibly grateful for the effort and coordination that clearly went into making the event so seamless and enjoyable. It meant so much to us to be able to relax and enjoy the day knowing everything was being taken care of so well. We’re so happy we chose St Andrews for our celebration—it exceeded all of our expectations and created memories we’ll treasure for years to come. Highly recommended and I will be back. Thank you once again...

It pains me to write this review. I was a massive fan of St Andrews Hotel (then known as Pumphouse Hotel) – for years, my tradition was to visit with my brother to celebrate, and we would order the Pumphouse Burger. It was always impeccable. I am a massive burger afficianado, and have tried over 100 different burgers from here and around the world; I have always felt that the Pumphouse was criminally underrated and underknown, and should have ranked amongst the rest of Melbourne's burger royalty. However, fast forward to a few weeks ago. I brought my friend for a highly anticipated post-lockdown meal. Despite the impressive proportions remaining, the burger patty had barely any flavour. It seems the chef has been replaced and has changed the recipe, as it better resembled a rissole rather than a burger patty – there was no meaty flavour; rather, it tasted watered down with other bland ingredients used to bulk up the thickness. On the upside, the remaining burger ingredients were excellent, and the onion rings & chips were as good as before. The 666 Pink Lemonade jug was delicious, refreshing and great value. The service and atmosphere were warm and inviting as always. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously so I can once again return to this storied establishment.

British style fish and chips, faultless service and excellent tunes. When I popped in for lunch the manager was busy but acknowledge me straight away and said they would be with me soon. It was classic service that most venues don’t do anymore. Warm and friendly with some light banter. The atmosphere was perfect for a Monday afternoon with some 80’s Australian nostalgia wafting from the speakers which rounded off a thoroughly perfect experience. The fish and chips were an easy 10/10 with delicious home made tartare sauce and crunchy but soft in the middle chips. I would have loved some mushy peas but I won’t cry about it. This matched perfectly with a crisp, flavourful and mildly buttery Chardonnay. There wasn’t a single thing I would have liked to change. This place is an absolute gem.
