Nando's Waterfront City — Restaurant in Melbourne

Nandos offer some delicious chicken and the sides are great. You can also collect points for future use in the restaurant. The levels of spiciness suits everyone's needs whether you enjoy spicy food or just a well tasting chicken. The sallads are well balanced in flavour and tastes good. The rest of the menu according to my taste, is just about ok, nothing special but it's still alright. The reason for only one star is the fact that upon serving our order, we had a cockroach on our plate, nibbling on a slice of cucumber. Both me and my wife lost our appetite and the meal was taken away in a rush. The chef came out and handled it great and apologised. Our order was refunded in full and we left the restaurant and haven't been to Nando's since. Sad because they make delicious grilled chicken. I hope that whatever caused the rodent to be on my plate is resolved by now and that this doesn't happen to any other customers. For compensation we got 60$ gift card after a month. Very rude, I ordered a small chips and took nearly 20 mins to be served. Two girls who ordered before me, received their large chips orders. After that I thought I’d be next, but he went on to serve so many others. I was thinking does it take that long to dish out a small $3.95 peri peri chips.

After I approached him to politely let him know that my lunch break was running short, as we get timed at the job I work at and only have maximum 30 mins. I had a remaining 11 mins left and was still waiting for the small chips. The manager said, go and sit back down and be patient! I thought he could at least help me out as a first time customer and say we will do the best we can to serve you and soon as possible.

He finally gave me the chips and held the chips in his hand and told me next time be patient! Very rudely. Even though I had told him I was on my work break and had only 10 mins left. I thought they could at least be reminded to serve me. He didn’t want to apologise. He refused to even give me the chips I paid for. I had to take it out of his hands. I walked in to nandos, no one greeted although it was quiet and there were two people standing behind the counter. I picked up the menu and just as I did the one of the two employees (female) can and said are you ready. I had just literarily just picked it up. To which I replied “ not as yet” she then went out to the floor and started working. I then decided on edoetada or espetafa grande which are on the menu, I tried to get their attention, but the guy was standing there day dreaming. I made a hand gesture and he cane closer, when I asked for what I wanted he quickly said we don’t have espaetada or espetafa grande and walked away. Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn’t he supposed to ask if I wanted something else instead. I had to wait for the female employee to come back while he was just standing there. This is not an isolated incident. I have been here in many occasions and service was well below averages each time with the exception of twice where the same employee displayed professionalism and curtesy.
