Unfortunately it seemed to be overbooked when we attended. Our group spent more time walking around trying to find a free puzzle room than actually doing any puzzles. Too many people not enough free rooms, and many rooms were "Out Of Order" leaving even less rooms than normal available for play. At one point we had only played a room once, and when we finally figured out what we were meant to be doing, another team standing outside the door scanned their keypass outside the door while we were still inside the room and their game started with their team score and timer on the screen inside. Meaning more time wasted standing around waiting for their game to end - while no one is getting to play - before we could attempt another go (now that we knew what the aim of the game was).
It was also extremely loud in there which meant some games that involved relaying information to the rest of the team in different parts of the room was difficult. Barely able to hear each other even if you're shouting at the top of your voice.
Overall we got to try out less than half of the rooms there and only some of those were satisfying to play. Most were confusing.
Some rooms would have benefited from a bit more instructions as once we finally found a free room, we felt we wasted even more time being totally confused and frustrated and not at all fulfilled or satisfied with the feeling of solving a room, as we simply didn't know what we were meant to be doing to solve it. Prison Island is suited to groups of 3-4 people per team. The rooms were clean and the theming of the place was interesting with some great decor and wall art. some puzzle rooms were quite addictive and kept you wanting to play again and again to better your score.
I wish I could give a higher score as it is a great idea, but when the place is overbooked and a decent amount of rooms are out of order your money is wasted...
Read moreMy daughter had her birthday here recently. She and her friends had an awesome time! Although their rooms are more like challenge rooms than escape rooms, the girls otherwise had a blast. Although there was an aspect where they have to maybe tweak a little bit, such as booking the number of attendees for birthdays. When you book through Fever to secure the time and date, whatever number of participants you have, becomes non-refundable. You can add more if you inform the staff. But you can't lessen the number if tickets were already purchased. However, the management was able to work around it and provide flexibility for us as we didn't have confirmed RSVPs yet when we secured the slot. We sincerely appreciate Ali for making sure the time and date was secured prior to us sending our invites to my daughter's friends. It certainly took out a big part of the stress of planning events like this. Also an amazing staff! Everyone were friendly, approachable and so accommodating. They made sure we have whatever we needed during that day. It was a busy day with heaps of customers! Yet the staff remain wonderfully calm and professional. Thank you.. for making my daughter's birthday...
Read moreThe staff were lovely and one of the guys was quite accomodating to my friend with anxiety, answering his questions about it before the experience started, and checking in with us afterwards.
Unfortunately the experience, although still pretty fun, definitely needs some improvement, especially as it was quite expensive. It has the potential Though to be an amazing venue if things are improved.
I do think too many people were booked in at the same time, and after reading some other reviews, this seems to be a common issue. It made it hard after one room finished, you’d often struggle to find the next available one, also meaning certain rooms you really wanted to try not being available all the time.
The instructions in each room definitely need to be a bit more clear too, it was a bit hard in certain rooms to work out what to do, especially in the Morse code and tilted rooms.
Also stepping outside of the game to restart each time got a bit annoying - would be great if there was a control...
