I knew from when i walked in something wasnt right. No atmosphere , very quite resturant with one staff member on a saturday night. We got matlese mains to try as we are maltese family. Bad choice my meal tastes like just herbs i got one potatoe with one peice of meat. Then my partner got rabbit he got 2 peices of rabbit well well where was the meat pay top dollar $$38 for no meat and it says two peices no joke my partner had maybe one full tablespoon of meat tuff chewy meat and thats being generous. Being a chef if you see it's the ribcage that has no meat wouldnt you think to put another peice on there. Then when the young girl was free i spoke to her about this matter partner didnt eat it he moved it to another plate and then nothing was done about it as the manager wasnt in to deal with this matter. There should always be a manager on at all times exspecially on a saturday night. My family all came in to try some tradional food and wanted to get deserts but after i had a bad experience with them main courses i was put off and didnt want to give extra money to this bissuness.
To improve on your bussiness if you want returned clients you need to work on these things. Take feedback on aboard. So you dont loose to many customers. Our family used to hunt rabbits and cook all the time lots of different way,s never been like this before. When we left my partner said even the peas and potatoes were hard still also which he didnt mention to me there. So partners meal a compelete downfall. Even the brushetta was tiny and not fresh bread , tomatoes tasted like they were cut up weeks ago. 3 tiny little peices little circles. If you cant even make something simple like that. Then me and my partner looked each other and had second thoughts about ordering mains from your resturant.
Make a change.
Only good thing about the resturant was that poor young girl working so hard all alone.
I wont be returning to...
Read moreNanna’s Place has a strong community reputation for wonderful, honest and traditionally authentic Maltese cuisine. And I’m so pleased it lives up to its reputation.
From the moment you step into the quaint restaurant you’re greeted with open arms and there’s a sense on nostalgia. For me, it’s just like my grandparents house back in the 80s. There’s photos, flags and Maltese trinkets on all the walls. Susan, her name embroidered on her apron, is one of the owners who walks you through the menu and the daily specials.
Let it be known, everything on that menu just sounded amazing and I wanted to order it all. I started with the humble pastizzi. The pastizzi is a traditional Maltese pastry that consists of flaky, thin pastry filled with various savoury fillings. Today it’s ricotta cheese or mashed peas. Naturally, I order both. This was followed by the lay down misère food train we experienced including ricotta ravioli with a tomato based sauce and generous sprinkling of Parmesan. The chicken bragioli was stuffed and rolled with a filling of a mixture of herbs, garlic, cheese and capsicum. The gnocchi was light and fluffy with tomato based sauce with you could soak up with table bread. For me the Maltese highlight was not yet on the specials menu, beef mince stuffed qarabalii served with a side oven baked potatoes - just like Nana would make. You can order up at Nana’s Place as what you don’t eat you can take home for later on. This little restaurant is a great find and I’d strongly encourage you to...
Read moreEarly lunch @TheMaltesePastizziBar where I chose Stuffat tal Fenek - rabbit stew served with spaghetti and fresh bread
A generous dish is placed piled with spaghetti and plenty of tender succulent rabbit immersed in a delicious tomato based sauce. Use the soft fresh bread to mop up all the tomato based sauce of the stew. Potatoes adorn the plate amongst the herbs and makes for a hearty meal. Very enjoyable and so full. I couldn't leave without getting frozen pastizzi and picking a number of sweet and savoury items from the display cabinet.
Some of the items are a pastry surrounding a smooth date mixture which is delicious (honey ring which is cold and imqurat which is deep fried). The qasatat is a savoury pastry holding a delicious chicken mixture. The mini figoli is a large soft biscuit encasing a smooth almond filling which is very tasty. Pudina is a soft chocolate bread pudding with dried fruit and is perfect as an afternoon snack. Cbneit is a Maltese cheese so I chose the pepper marinated version which has some bite but is perfect to break up in a salad. And as for the psstizzi, pop in them oven and out pop golden brown flaky pastry surrounding a smooth ricotta filling. These are so yum you just can't stop eating them.
