Summary: Don't recommend this, but if you really want to buy, I suggest going to a physical store to check out the colours before purchasing online. The products advertised on their website are not accurate.
I bought the original cup - deep ocean colour. Take a look at the pictures—the colour of the product I received is a far cry from what is advertised on their website. Contacted customer service, they were polite but insisted that that was how the colour was. Said that if I wanted an exchange, it would be under standard exchange policy with no refunds (i.e. it was considered a change of mind, rather than product quality issues). For the exchange, I had to pay the shipping fee to send the product back to them, then when they have received it, they'll give me credits for another cup—but the initial and new shipping fees were not refunded. I don't think this cup is worth the amount that I'll end up paying (or even the amount that I've already paid), so I opted not to exchange.
Two stars instead of one because at least the customer service person was polite, and I can't blame them for product quality control or the company's exchange/refund policies. Otherwise, the product and experience overall has been incredibly disappointing.
EDIT 23 Nov 2021: I received a call from Vanessa, the customer service manager today. They were absolutely lovely and said that they saw this review, and wanted to ask if I'd be happy to go to their store to exchange for a new product in person (thus avoiding delivery fees). Unfortunately, I have opened the packaging and am in the process of selling it. They also asked if I could edit this review but I declined, since the original review still accurately reflects my experience. I appreciate the call, though. Their customer service team is wonderful, unfortunately, the product...
Read moreWe have been Frank Green users for many years without too many issues other than the usual leaking lids which Frank Green replaced without any issues. My kids and wife love them and still do.
However, I purchased a Frank Green Gradient Ceramic Reusable Bottle (595ml) along with the protective bumper in January for my daughter, expecting it to be a durable, premium product. Unfortunately, after only about 4-5 months of daily use, the paint on the base of the bottle has peeled badly and looks terrible.
What’s frustrating is that the damage is isolated to the area under the bumper. The rest of the bottle (above the bumper) is still in great condition with no peeling or bubbling at all. This suggests the bumper — meant to protect the bottle — has actually caused the problem, likely trapping moisture and making the base “sweat.”
The bottle has never been in a dishwasher, has only ever been hand washed and dried separately, and has not been mistreated. Yet, the paint damage under the bumper is severe and totally out of proportion for a bottle that’s only half a year old.
When I raised this with Frank Green, their response was that peeling paint is “general wear and tear” and not covered by warranty. I find this unacceptable for a premium-priced product marketed as reusable and long-lasting. We exchanged a few emails but they would not replace the defective bottle.
Very disappointing experience overall. The bottle looks great at first, but if you’re considering one, be aware that the bumper can actually do more harm than good.
I can no longer recommend Frank Green based on my recent experience, and I’m considering switching to another brand for our annual...
Read moreI’ve had a Frank Green water bottle for a year, and it’s certainly not worth the hype or the hefty $60 price tag. Recently, because of all the Black Friday sales, they’ve been putting out this arrogant message/F/B advertising along the lines of, “We don’t have sales because we have the best quality” what a ridiculous marketing strategy as that couldn’t be further from the truth. The paint on my bottle is chipping and looks terrible, if you do push the drinking spout down to close it you have to dig your fingernails in to get it back up and it leaks if it tips over in the car. I have the 1L version, and to make it “car-friendly,” they sell an extra little cup holder, except that doesn’t work either. The bottle becomes top-heavy and tips over constantly. Not that it matters but Frank Green isn’t even a real person—it’s just a brand name. For all the hype, the product really doesn’t deliver, and the marketing feels more like smoke and mirrors. I recently bought a $12 insulated bottle from Kmart, and it’s a game-changer. The spout flips up and down easily, it’s leak-proof, and it’s designed so the bottom half fits perfectly into car cup holders. No gimmicks, no extra purchases—just a well-designed, affordable product that works. Frank Green feels like a big marketing ploy and a flashy, overpriced brand that’s done well to market a not so...
