Overall we had a nice experience at Olmate’s but the flavours didn’t quite meet expectations on this occasion. The big tuna sandwich oozed delightfully gooey cheese out of all corners but lacked enough of the cucumber relish/pickle to balance it out. We also had the beef rogan josh which is apparently one of their more popular sandwiches. Without the rogan josh dipping sauce, the sandwich alone was somewhat plain. With the sauce added the sandwich is much nicer, but does require the assistance of a flat surface to avoid a catastrophic mishap. Rogan josh is often made with a mix of spices including chilli, but it was difficult to appreciate any chilli flavour with our serve, although there is a prominent and pleasant cardamom/clove spice profile. Conveniently, there’s quite a substantial amount of indoor and outdoor seating, much more than most other sandwich shops. We were only provided with a single serviette between two people and two sandwiches, which was a little unusual.

Had an appointment in Southbank & came across this wonderful cafe that provides great choices for ā€˜Toasties’. I had the Roasted Cauliflower Toastie for $16.00. Love their choice of different options, however with the Roasted Cauliflower, It would have been more impressive with slightly more quantity of roasted cauliflower inside. Even a Cauliflower Steak with slightly stronger seasoning would be a great option. I could envisage also an ā€˜added option’ of JalapeƱo slices to give this option a real boost in flavour. A very health Vegetarian option which gave me the feeling of a lite, healthy and tasty lunch. Great place & would definitely return to try other options. Parking šŸ…æļø nearby at the ā€˜Australian Ballet Car Park’.

Came here and tried the fried chicken burger and the meatball sub. Ingredients and flavours were unique, not the usual taste you expect but they were really good. The meatballs from the sub was tender, not too soft; spicy sugo had a bit of heat and a strong cumin spice flavour; cheese was nice and stretchy and the basil pesto was not overpowering; encased in a perfectly toasted roll, not dry at all. The fried chicken was served in a soft milk bun, coating was a little crisp, tender thigh meat with a savoury chipotle aioli; the slightly sweet green apple and cabbage slaw was a nice addition, fresh and crisp. The flat white was also as good as the food; smooth, strong and flavourful coffee.

Visited multiple times. One thing has started to stand out. Lunch items have been consistently good quality, well cooked and presented. Meatball sub and chicken burger are both delicious. Breakfast items have consistently and over multiple visits been disappointing with items not being cooked or warmed all the way through. Frittatas - a newer item on the menu was cold in the centre and unappetizing as a result. The ham cheese and tomato toasty which you would think would be a basic staple, was firstly served in a milk bun, untoasted and the cheese was a solid block in the middle, unmelted and difficult to swallow, with the rest of the fillings also quite cold temperature and only the edge of the bun showing signs of heat and melting. Very...
