This has to be the BEST jajangmyeon in Melbourne! Experience Korean Chinese food at Paik's Noodle - even BTS loves it!
I love the jajangmyeon - Korean black bean noodles - the savoury sauce is rich and coats the noodles nicely, and the onions give it a sweet and delicious taste. There's also plenty of meat in the sauce. Seafood lovers have to try the bokkeun jjamppong - noodles with seafood and meat.
Tangsuyuk is a must when having jajangmyeon! It pairs well with the noodles and it's fried nice and crispy. They pour the sweet and sour sauce over it, but it doesn't get soggy. The cream prawn is made with juicy prawns, and topped with a sweet sauce. It's topped with peanuts, for an extra crunch.
The fried buns are light and fluffy. It has a nice neutral taste, and pairs well with either the tangsuyuk or prawns, but it's like a dessert with the condensed milk. Would you prefer sweet or savoury?
In terms of portions for 2 people, I would recommend 1 noodle dish and 1 main. The large portions give you the best value for money, and I would estimate it to be around $20 to 25 per person.
They have locations in the CBD at Healey's Lane, Glen Waverley, and a new store in Caulfield! Be sure to save this for the...
Read moreIf you're a K-drama enthusiast, you're likely familiar with the delectable dish known as Jajang-myeon, featuring Korean black bean sauce noodles. Our quest for this authentic culinary experience led us to @paiksnoodle_australia, where we were treated to a remarkable bowl of noodles featuring their housemade fermented black bean sauce. It's a rich and flavorful delight, served with thick and chewy wheat noodles that are meticulously crafted in-house on a daily basis. Unsurprisingly, this dish stands out as their best-seller.
Our culinary journey didn't stop there; we also indulged in their renowned Tang Suyuk, which features deep-fried pork coated in a sweet and sour sauce. It's a tantalizing treat for the taste buds.
I must personally recommend the Cream Saeu, an absolute must-try. These deep-fried prawns are paired with a creamy mayonnaise sauce that's both tangy and crispy. With every bite, you'll revel in the satisfying crunch of the prawn's exterior, which gives way to a tender and juicy interior, creating a delightful contrast of textures.
For those seeking something heartier, the Beef Bokkeumbap is a true delight. This dish features fried rice infused with the smoky essence of the wok, combined with tender beef brisket, various...
Read moreI decided to check out this venue after reading the reviews here. I have a combination meal consisting of their signature black bean noodle and a portion of the sweet and sour pork. The black bean sauce is quite bland and dilute, different from the more salty version in Cantonese cuisine. The noodles remind me of buckwheat noodles, are chewy in texture. Overall, this dish is acceptable. Despite raving reviews of their sweet and sour pork, I found that their batter is chewy, suggesting that the batter must have contained a tapioca or a sweet potato starch. This chewiness compromises the crispness that is typical of Chinese-style sweet and sour pork. This is certainly a Korean version. They may consider offering the dipping sauce separately instead of pouring it over the pork. The venue imposes a 10% surcharge on Sundays, which may explain why it wasn't busy. This is an average experience for me, and I suspect that the other reviewers of this venue may have received a special inducement by the owners to write something favourable. I paid this...
