Situated on the old premises of what used to be Indii, now is Royale India. They've made some great changes to the decor of the restaurant - both inside and out - and if you love Indian food, you'll love it here. Right from the start, the staff were welcoming. We were seated right away and you couldn't help but notice the nice colourful decor and the authentic Indian music playing. Their menu is wide and varied and has a good selection of Vegan options if that's you. The Samosas were really good. The pastry was nice, crisp and moreish and the filling was perfect with just the right amount of tang. For main, the Butter Chicken was also cooked perfectly (though there was a slight hint of a processed taste to the chicken, which I didn't really love), and the sauce was magnificent. The garlic naan and rice were also perfect. They had been very accommodating in any request we had to have meals modified, which was very good and helpful. Would I recommend coming here? Yes, I would. Very much. The food was lovely, the staff were friendly and accomodating, the pricing is reasonable, and along the lines of many other restaurants. Parking at times can be a little hard, but right now it's easy enough, but don't let anything deter you from trying it here because you'll be glad you did.

Nothing special to make your taste buds go wild, usual Indian fare here that should not go wrong. Place decor is lovely, good furniture and cutlery, background music could be improved and the noise from the water fall can become much to bear, need to get the whole ambience fit right to make it work. Appreciate the folks making an effort though. Meals were prepared fast, roti and naan were good. Butter Chicken average, the meat wasn’t that fresh. Lamb Madras was above average and the Palak Paneer was really nice, little be salty but tasty. 4 stars, not enough to do the 40mins drive to return again, if you are close by then please do give them a chance.

Visited this restaurant for our dinner. The fantastic ambience was exciting. The hosts welcomed us with full smile and took real good care of us. Best Dishes: 1. Roti with Chicken & Veg Curries (we tried Paneer Mutter, which was a bit sweet but ok) 2. Mango Kulfi was out of the world. Best icecream I had in the recent times Don't try: 1. Biryani: South Indians have a different imagination of Biryani and the one we had was no where near to it 2. Grilled Mushroom starter : Not very great. It wasn't grilled well Overall, we liked the place, hosts and the food. Will visit again and also recommend to others 👍

I am from India and have visited majority of the Indian restaurants in Melbourne but this was the best dine-in experience I had till date. The starter (Samosa chaat) was a great one to start with followed by Kadhai Paneer ( Ohhohohoho) , it was so different from the oily and the ready made ones that they serve in other restaurants. Paneer (Cottage cheese) was so tender and soft and the curry was just outstanding with pefectly balanced taste of capsicum and tomatoes in it. The Paratha reminded me of my home. It was soo soft and fluffy and it had minimal ghee ( butter ) on it unlike the one's elsewhere. Lastly, to end with we ordered Mango kulfi (ice cream) and it was enough in quantity for the two of us. The kulfi had natural flavor of mango with fruit chunks in them and it just melted in our mouths.

Overall experience was soo great that I am writing a review specially for them taking out time from my other commitments 😅. One more thing to add, the ambience was the best with candle light with soft music.

I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want to have the most authentic and delicious Indian food in Melbourne with peaceful and a great atmosphere.

@Royale India Restaurant, I am coming back soon!...

Honestly, I had such a great experience at Royale India. The moment I walked in, the vibe just felt right — cozy lighting, beautiful decor, and a really peaceful atmosphere. It instantly put me in a good mood.

Now coming to the food — every dish we tried was full of flavor and cooked just right. Nothing felt too spicy or bland, it was all perfectly balanced. Even the presentation was so good that I had to take a few pics before digging in . Special mention to Paneer Tikka — it was next level!

But what really stood out to me was the service. The staff was genuinely warm and polite. They were always around when needed, without being overbearing. It’s rare to find that kind of attentiveness these days.

All in all, this place ticks every box — great food, a lovely vibe, and amazing service. Whether you're planning a chill dinner, a date night, or just catching up with friends, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out. You might end up loving it as much...
