It has been a couple of years since we dined in here last and while the dishes arrived at the table looking amazing, we were a bit underwhelmed with the quality of food. Also the service was extremely slow. We waited 45 min for our mains to came out. We ordered: 🍽️ Kingfish Sashimi 🍽️ Risotto Verde 🍽️ Chicken Schnitzel 🍽️ Porterhouse Steak 🍽️ Kids cheeseburger meal & ice cream ❣️$15 kids meal includes: drink + main + dessert Kingfish Sashimi lack citrus, a tab more seasoning would have been great and the portion was quite small. Risotto Verde looked pretty but it wasn’t cooked through and it was a bit bland. I remember the chicken schnitzel being amazing and it still was great but the chips served on the side were not crispy and golden as we would have liked them and the mushroom sauce that was once memorable, turned into a watery weak sauce. Porterhouse steak was alright, no longer melt-in-your-mouth goodness as it used to be. Good atmosphere, the bar serves great beers and drinks and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Drinks before movie were good. Dinner after was a very different experience. Went to the dining room and the staff member seemed uninterested in finding us a table. Group of 5 so were seated at a table for 4. Had to pinch a glass from empty table and ask for cutlery. Menus arrived a little while later, drink orders a bit longer. Wines arrived, beer about 4 minutes later. Managed to attract the attention so we could order. Parma, ok (top end of price for a basic pub with very average chips). Barramundi, good. Fish and chips, ok, guest couldn’t have a salad ingredient so just no salad on plate, maybe the staff could have asked if some vegetables could replace the salad. The grilled chicken tikka was underwhelming at best ($32) avoid unless you like expensive entrees. Chicken schnitzel was good but what is with the spicy orange gravy!? It was a spicy sauce. When questioned the staff member said it was definitely the gravy and others have mentioned it. Don’t call it gravy, would have ordered the mushroom sauce instead. Disappointing considering how quiet it was.

We had our company Christmas party in the Sky Bar last week and it was set up beautifully and staff were friendly and did not make us feel rush at all. The booking process was easy and professional. We had a customised set menu and everyone enjoyed their meal - Salmon Gravlax entree and Ora King Salmon main were a big hit on that night. This is our fifth consecutive year celebrating our company's Christmas party at HotelBrighton. The customer service is good but I personally felt it can be better if staff can be more attentive to guests by checking with organiser once in awhile. Usually we were in the main dining area (20-30 guests), but I highly recommend upstairs function room if you have a larger group (over 30 guests). Overall, it is always a great experience to dine at HB.

Hi All Firstly, let me say that, in the past, l have been happy with the service and the food in the restaurant. However!!! We booked a week in advance for today 16/6/2020, at a time when there were no other bookings for that day on the tablet, and we requested table 8.

We were told that all was ok.

We turned up at our allocated time, to be informed that the table that we had booked was not available, plus that, as the restaurant was fully booked, we had been allocated a seat on high stools in the bar area.

My wife said, thank you, a nice spot for a drink and a snack, but not for dinner.

It appears that an early booking for the dinner is meaningless.

In hindsight, l think that an apology, possibly the offer of a free drink while we waited for a seat in the restaurant or, if that was impossible, the offer of a guaranteed seat the next week on our regular night (maybe with a free bottle of wine then).

Whatever, we were a little disappointed as today was special, being between my wife's birthday (13/6) and...
