Secret Kitchen at Chinatown, offer one of the tasty dim sum (dim sim). However we came here cos our friend make a booking. Service & Ambient [3.5] Firstly, we were told no booking is require as it's a small eatery place. I have been reading the One Star review mainly about poor or rude service. Well we are lucky. The staff took orders without fuss and as we ordered quite a lot of food, the gentleman join another table and help to arrange the plates/baskets. One order was wrong, the lady happily took back and return with the correct food. Food [3]. The noodle with mixed meats were good. Fish balls soup were good. However, the assorted dim sum weren't the best. As we had these at the Chinatown branch, we know the taste. Perhaps the dim sum not their core business here.

1.5 star ⭐️ Was really disappointed at this place to be honest. I heard good things about secret kitchen but didn’t live up to my expectations. Ordered a combination roast pork and roast duck dry noodles. Normally dry noodles come with soup. This one doesn’t. The pork was fatty and the pork crackling was subpar. The duck was ok, but a bit salty, the noodles were a bit salty as well. The soy sauce egg was so salty that even my egg loving son spat it out. I do like the gooey yolk though. The stir fry veggies were ok. Their red bean iced drink was terrible. There are so little red bean and the taste is just not like the ones in Hong Kong.

I was thinking about whether I should give 5 stars or not and did because I could not think of a single negative thing about this place. We got the mushroom, chicken and Chinese sausage fried rice, roast combo with roast pork and duck and a char kway teo. For a drink we got the taro smoothie with coconut milk. Everything was amazing. The fried rice hit so different and was bomb af. The roast duck was just the right saltiness and the pork was good maybe slightly gamey. The char kway teo was equally great. The taro smoothie was amazing. Like I would go again to get that. Overall the service was great and food was amazing.

As a group of three we were planning to yum cha (only want yum cha) somewhere until we found Secret Kitchen. Have been dining in other secret kitchen before and there is no problem to still offer yumcha in such a compact instance. Given a smaller yumcha menu, we only ordered a few dishes out of a few other choices (around 10/11 options in total) to have more food else where later. And here is where all the “professional customer service” kicked in…

The old lady reacted slightly to our smaller order, followed by tossing the tocket on our table. Being very few table dining in the shop, clearly their steamer dishes were not quite ready, so took them longer to serve (15mins, which is fine). The lady served two bamboo steamers in a stack each of the time and just placed them on the edge of the table without even separating them… of course no nice vibe coming with them… Until one of our friend kindly ask about whether there was actually dish in the bottom steamer when she was serving the second stack, we got told that there was food there and we just need to help ourselves… I was hopeless to her professionalism at that point of time and decided not to carry this negativity to ourselves.

I’m stating everything happened to us and let ppls to make there own judgement. To me they could have done a better job sharing...

This restaurant does not even deserve a 1 star rating. The old man who took our orders was extremely rude, it was disgusting and appalling to see and experience especially when me and my family were with two kids. My family member started ordering and initially asked, 'for how many people is the fried rice plate for? He immediately responded with this; 'I don't know how much you eat'. My family member went on with another order which was a 3-combination dish and asked him nicely as it was our first time to dine there. He then proceeded to reply with with a very aggressive tone and body language it's on the menu! Here!' (as he pointed aggressively to the menu) 2 dishes came and was put on our table but we politely informed them that we did not order the 2 dishes. Another staff member went and grabbed the dishes from our table and left. We then kept waiting for the rest of our order after waiting a while. It turned out that the old man who took our orders did not put in 3 of the dishes that we ordered. Not a single word of apology was said. Food quality was close to average, in my honest opinion but it was the old man's disgusting attitude towards us that made us very...

If there is a negative score, I would definitely go for the negative score! I often bought some takeaways from this place and asked for putting two chili sources (very small boxes). Today, they (an old lady and an old guy speaking Cantonese) asked for extra $2 for the chili source, saying they always only offered one for free. However, the fact is that in the past (even last week) there is no issue to ask for two sources. I told them that I just bought something two days ago and got two chili sources and then the old guy changed his saying, mentioning they just changed the rule. The worst thing is that the old guy kept touching my shoulder and also toughed my phone (maybe he thought I was shooting a video). I can understand if this place always sticks to the rule or maybe changed the rule "yesterday" as long as this can be politely explained (which is not the case). If you had ever bought something from this place, you know how small the source box is. If you typically prefer more than one source and would NOT like to pay extra $2 for the additional one, you might not want to go there any...
