This restaurant is very unassuming, but the food is fantastic, especially for vegans like us. We had vegan Gobi Aloo and a vegan Malai Kofta (this is normally made with a cream sauce, but I asked if it could be made vegan, and the chef was only too happy to oblige). I accidentally ordered Samosa Chaat instead of a plain samosa, but was glad I did. It came with delicious chick pea and chutney sauce over a smashed samosa. Both curries were really good. Rich, complex flavours. Huge serves. The kofta made with cashews and raisins were the best I’d had. I ordered take away in person, and the chef said it would take 20-25 minutes because he would cook from scratch, but he took my number and gave me a ring when it was ready. When I picked up the meal he said it would be the best Indian food ever. Now, this sort of hyperbole is not uncommon in India, and I’ve travelled around there a few times, but the food was truly magnificent and the service great. Highly...
Read moreThe indian food here is the best I've had anywhere outside of India - and must have tried over 200 restaurants. Everything from their Palak Paneer (with very generous servings of paneer) to their Chole to their Malai Kofta are the best. The Malai Kofta particularly is excellent here. Where some places will try to get away with serving mash potato balls, Spice Treasure always does the traditional Punjab style with a tasty sweet/savoury filling.
I have also recently started ordering the 'chaats' from Spice Treasure and they are excellent. Better than even those you can find in Chandni Chowk! Delicious morsels of snacks topped with yoghurt and tamarind. Delicious!
Thank you for your continuing service to us here in Northcote!
Ps. Have seen some reviews stating long wait times for delivery. Not had that issue and we have ordered around 20 times from here. Normal wait times for us are around 30...

Food quality has dropped. We ordered chicken tikka masala and found a piece of Lamb or Beef in it. Asked the chef about it and was told it was a piece of goat. He apologized and offered something else which we refused to take. Couldn't eat the food after finding that piece. We also told them to make it spicy, but could only taste the raw smell of the chilli powder. The food was seriously oily and a complete disaster.
I've been to this restaurant a couple of times before and it was good and suggested my friends to try it, but we ended up with a disappointment. None of us liked the food this time.
Hygiene levels are zero. No proper wash basin. Stinking and uncleaned toilet.
Front desk girl was helpful, smiling and quick, which was the only thing that was fine in this restaurant.
Not any more to this...
