While the food here is fairly good- it is really expensive for what you get. I remain gobsmacked that places still serve tea that the old Coles Cafeteria wouldn't dream of. A teabag on the side of the teapot with hot water is not brewed tea. By the time you get the tea bag in the pot it isn't hot enough to steep. Which makes it totally tasteless. And the same price as coffee. Yuck. The young person serving us was so disinterested in her job it didn't make it worth saying anything as I did last time. I asked that my side not contain tomatoes and she said it couldn't be served another way. It came with two cherry tomatoes that could just have been left off and not wasted if she cared enough not to to argue and tell me that they wouldn't not serve it with out them and just 'not to eat them'. Maybe ok in a fast food place but the prices should mean much better service. And the tea deserves some...

I’ve had Cedar Bakery on the radar for a while and finally made it. It’s a lovely and open cafe area with the grocery area down the back. The two areas work well. We came for brunch. The world’s most beautiful woman ordered the dukkah mushroom while I had the eggs and lamb fillets with a side of avocado. Both dishes were good. The eggs and lamb Fillets seemed like a smallish dish initially with subtly spiced egg and diced lamb, lovely soft pita, salty olives, a couple of cherry tomatoes and a few slices of cucumber. I liked it more and more as I went. The serve size was absolutely right. Bang on actually. Serves are more compact here than at the new Oasis in Fairfield. The food is not as substantial nor as pretty. I liked the cafe more though as it felt more orderly and comfortable. Service was distant at both places. I did like Cedar Bakery and would...
Read moreCedar used to be a fuss-free and reliable source of delicious Lebanese pastries; in a comfortable and stylish venue to boot. It has evidently changed hands in the last couple of months and the new owners have decided to add a pile of rigmarole to the experience. Now, if my child and I wish to eat a cheese pie on the premises we must be escorted to a table by a waiter who will furnish us with a menu. We will then be advised that they are all out of cheese pies ... at 12:50pm. At the end we must waddle to the back of the shop to pay, and if we didn't take note of our table number we must describe the spatial location of the table rather than just telling the attendant what we had. We did eventually get cheese pies after quite a wait, and they were OK - if a bit soggy. Definitely not good enough to dissuade me from going to one of the other excellent Lebanese bakeries around...
