Today my friends and I had a terrible experience at Starbucks Melbourne Central Station at 12:18 PM. Firstly, the staff taking the order named Tee made a mistake in the recipe I asked for even though I had written the recipe down on my iphone note with the hope that she could see it more easily. But I was not sure that she took the right order or note so that I did not ask her to check again, as well as there is a long line behind me so I didn't to take much time of the other customers. Then the barista Ryan made a mistake in Tee's order. I politely and gently reminded him "it seems like you took my order wrong, I ordered mocha extra shot and two pumps of mocha, extra ice and no whipping cream", and he replied to me "what do you mean?", then I explained again and he took the cup back with a fierce attitude (you can check the shop's camera to check again if I had a bad attitude towards Ryan or not.) After making the second cup, he again misunderstood my intention and gave me a grande cup extra ice with three shots of expresso without saying a word, leaving me standing there in contemplation and full of questions for a long time. I had to ask him again to confirm whose cup it was, he ignored me to the point that my friend had to ask him directly to get an answer. But once again the Starbucks employee shocked us with the attitude and service of a person working in customer service. Ryan threw the second cup in the middle of the table without saying a word, then he ignored us with a tense and surprised attitude, after we reminded him, he asked again in an unprofessional manner and with an attitude of not wanting to serve us. Then he took the cup back in an extremely unprofessional manner. Until the third cup, he changed the recipe correctly but he did not he change his attitude or even worse. Ryan put the cup down on the table forcefully as if to threaten me and my friends, leaving us speechless with disappointment. The senior staff of the Starbucks system can check the camera to see Ryan's attitude, because now I am so disappointed that I can't even describe it with words. I didn't expect a service person to have such a bad attitude. I am very disappointed that he has such a bad attitude towards me, and it hurts me mentally and spiritually. Then my friend asked another staff at the store where we can give feedback, and she said that we can scan the QR code on the table and give feedback on that platform. But when we checked in that feedback survey, we couldn't find the Starbucks Melbourne Central branch, so we had to leave this comment here. Hopefully Starbucks Melbourne Central Station manager can educate Ryan to improve his service skill as well as brand image. I also hope other customers won't have the same bad...
Read moreNo recycling! None! No general, plastic, and especially no cup recycling. Shameful with the amount of waste, and so easy to remedy. Start with Simply Cups bins please, and then you can sell their recycled reusable cups too like 7-eleven does, which are the bust reusable coffee cups I’ve ever come across, and I’ve tried several. There should be several recycling bins at each exit. Then passes the buck by asking me to contact customer service instead of just taking the simple feedback onboard. If it’s a great idea, just do it. Make a song and dance about it if you want to lead the way in Melbourne.
Now I’m giving 2 stars solely because they have a plant based brekky roll that is great (but mostly always sold out), plant based roast veg panini (not the best, vegan feta blobs are weird, but points for effort), and once again with this particular store they’re out of nutellex so I can’t buy a bagel either. Strange. But points for effort. For some reason the Swanston store down the road doesn’t seem to have...
Read moreThe coffee was a bit too hot, but the service was fast and the coffee was good. Most importantly, NO WEEKEND SURCHARGE! This invention that is a scourge lately has put me off all my favourite cafes and breakfast spots. Restaurants we go on Fridays as to avoid them, as I feel is just a rip off, using the excuse of having to pay more salary on the weekends, even though they sell a lot more on weekends too. This Starbucks is a good alt to the Victoria State Library cafes which do charge 10% extra, even for a brownie that was probably baked during the week (and I’m pretty sure that even the stuff they buy made on the weekend, they don’t pay extra for it to be made on the weekends). Did you know that countries like the UK prohibit surcharge for using credit cards??? Something for the authorities to learn if they want us supporting smaller businesses. I used to until they started trying to rip me off. For now I will go with those that appreciate my business and don’t try to take...
