I was so disappointed! I had been for the first time the week before with some friends for drinks and really liked the atmosphere, especially the fact it is dog friendly, so I wanted to take my family for lunch. We arrived without a booking and were accommodated, even though the place was packed, but were told we could only have the table for an hour since it had been reserved. I said this wasn't a problem as we just wanted to eat lunch and would leave after. We ordered the food on my mobile phone via the QR-code stuck to the table, which seems to be the way a lot of casual dining places are heading. However, we couldn't order the drinks this way and had to go to the bar and order and pay for them separately. I had a really delicious Belgian Strong Dark Ale and I ordered a lemon, lime, and bitters each for my wife and daughter. They complained that their drinks were not mixed properly and didn't come with a straw to do so. Also, one was at least half an inch less full than the other. It took about 20 minutes for my wife's chicken schnitzel to arrive, which wasn't too bad considering how busy they were. Unfortunately, it was cold and not well seasoned, to the point where it tasted really bland. Then my daughter and I waited for our food. And waited. Eventually the host noticed us waiting and asked what we had ordered and went off, presumably to the kitchen. This seemed to do nothing, as we continued to wait. Eventually the host returned to tell us that because the food was taking so long, we would have to move tables because ours was reserved! My fish and chips and my daughter's hamburger eventually arrived 50 minutes after we ordered. Since my wife's food had arrived 30 minutes earlier, she had just about finished hers by this time (and she had tried to eat really slowly to wait for us). My fish was quite nice, though it came with a weird onion and pea mix that I didn't much care for, but my daughter's hamburger bun had been over toasted and was burnt. She said all she could taste was the burnt bun. This is quite unfortunate since we live less than 5 minutes away and I was hoping this would be our new favourite local casual dining place. Unfortunately, we won't be back again, at least for food.
So here's an update. You will see that I received a reply from Stomping Ground asking me to contact their manager by email as he wants more detail. I did so over a week ago and have heard absolutely nothing back from him. They need to seriously work on their customer skills if they wish to...

Read moreOK as an ex PML employee was very keen to have a meal at Stomping Ground Moorabbin situated on the site of the old Philip Morris cigarette factory and yes the food was nice and the garlic "pizza" in particular was delicious. Had spinach and ricotta pastry which was a very generous size, husband had octopus while others had fish and chips and halloumi. We also shared chocolate stout brownie. Drinks, beer, proseccos, flat whites and soy lattes, unfortunately decaf is not available. No table service so go to counter to order which is an absolute free for all, no system in place and people just pushing past others to get served. The decor is good with nice touches of greenery. Note when you book you have to leave your credit card details, OK, but after you have left them find out booking for only 2 hours, you can be seated on a communal table or a high table or a low table. Then when there be careful to avoid all the dogs. I love dogs but not when I'm dining and not when I need to step around them to get to bathroom and on a couple of occassions I saw staff having to jump over Labrador sprawled right across the aisle. Thankfully they weren't carrying anything, can you imagine! 23.8 about 20 ex PML employees there for lunch, nice to catch up with people haven't seen for a long time. Had Prosecco and chips. 20.1.24 four of us for 4 hour lunch! Shared starters of garlic pizza, houlami, croquettes (meat and vegetarian) and then for mains I had margarita pizza, husband had fish n chips while others had BBQ octopus and burger and chips. And for drinks - Prosecco, beers, ginger beer, sparkling, red, mojito and margarita, so a good selection! Wanted coffee but they don't have decaf, even though asked when entering if they did. It was quite warm and they didn't turn on air con until place had filled up, so that was...
