A Sensational Brunch Experience!
We recently enjoyed brunch at Tall Timber on Commercial Road in Prahran, and must say it was an absolutely sensational experience from start to finish.
From the moment we stepped into the cozy, laid back atmosphere of the cafe, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming ambiance. The staff at Tall Timber truly know how to create a comfortable and enjoyable dining environment.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the all-day breakfast menu. The options were diverse and incredibly tempting, making it quite challenging to choose just a couple of dishes.
We chose Shakshuka and Sauteed Cauliflower. Both dishes were expertly prepared and presented with an artful attention to detail. The Shakshuka was a delightful medley of flavours, with perfectly poached eggs nestled in a rich tomato and capsicum sauce. The Sauteed Cauliflower was a pleasant surprise, with its unique blend of textures and ingredients that packed a punch. It's evident the chefs at Tall Timber have a mastery of flavours and know how to create dishes that leave a lasting impression.
We indulged in the La Reserva De Tierra Bio Organic coffee which were on point, providing the perfect accompaniment to our brunch. Tall Timber's commitment to sourcing high-quality coffee beans truly shines through.
Not only was the food outstanding, but the service was top-notch. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. It's clear the team at Tall Timber is dedicated to ensuring every guest has a memorable experience.
In conclusion, Tall Timber is undoubtedly a gem in Prahran's culinary scene. If you're looking for a sensational brunch that combines exceptional food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere, look no further.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by warm, natural light pouring through wide windows, bouncing off whitewashed walls and timber finishes. It’s got that minimalist, chic vibe that Melbourne cafes do so well—unpretentious yet clearly thought-out.
The menu is a delight for those who enjoy a twist on the classics. You might start with their signature smashed avocado, a Melbourne staple, but Tall Timber gives it a lift with tangy feta, a soft-boiled egg, and a sprinkle of dukkah. It’s hearty, filling, and tastes like the sort of thing you’d make at home if you had endless time and fresh ingredients on hand.
For those wanting something less familiar, try the beetroot-cured salmon with poached eggs, fresh herbs, and a zesty dill yoghurt. It’s refreshing, light, and surprisingly filling. Every bite has that balanced mix of textures—soft, creamy, and crisp.
Coffee is, of course, taken seriously here. You can choose from a range of beans, sourced from local roasters, with options for cold brews, pour-overs, and your standard flat whites. The baristas know their stuff, and you’ll catch the scent of freshly ground coffee lingering long after you’ve left.
Service at Tall Timber is efficient, but never rushed. The staff are laid-back, quick to share recommendations, and seem to genuinely enjoy being there. It’s refreshing to be in a spot where everything feels so relaxed yet operates like a well-oiled machine.
Overall, Tall Timber Cafe doesn’t try to impress with extravagance. It knows what it’s good at—delicious, straightforward food, quality coffee, and a space that feels welcoming. Whether you’re a local looking for a regular spot or just passing through, it’s worth sitting down and letting time...

I’ve been here before on my last visit to Melbourne and remember it for its excellent coffee and tasty food, despite the high ish prices. This time we debated coming here as we have a toddler in tow and it’s not exactly kid friendly - no high chairs and usual entrance is not pram friendly though we used the exit this time to get the pram in. It was quiet in the cafe so was able to get a table with space for pram parking. The service was quite slow and it’s took ages for us to order. Our window of time was narrow - 45 minutes to get breakfast done as I had to get to the office and also our toddler needed to get outdoors! We had to then wait for ages for a croissant to be brought to us - untoasted and as is from the display window. 40minutes later the rest of our order hadn’t arrived. When I enquired it seems it had been overlooked! By now with a fidgety toddler who had finished his croissant and 10 minutes left to get to the office I had to cancel my breakfast. A wasted breakfast opportunity while visiting Melbourne. There was a perfunctory I’m sorry but nothing more. A shame as I remember it being...
