Last night dinner scenes with best quality and tasty Italian food from @mercadante_pizzeria they are open for takeaway and you can equally enjoy a gala Italian feast at home from @mercadante_pizzeria on Lygon street, Carlton.
Their speciality wood fired pizzas are truly incredible and a must try at this restaurant. The barbie pink decor really stands out with screaming neon signs making it such an Insta worthy photo op for all the beautifully styled dishes. Service is super fast and the owner and the staff are a bunch of friendly and kind folks.
What we had:
Their popular Seafood Pizza, so fresh, so cheesy, so full of flavours and seafood and that smoky essence of the pizza made it such a fascinating and a thoroughly delectable treat with each bite.
Seafood pasta, oh that sauce and the flavours of its made it such an incredibly yummy pasta with juicy prawns.
Arancini Balls, another cheesy and tasty appetiser that is a must try. Crispy on the outside hot and oozy on the inside.
Their popular Nutella Pizza served with marshmallows, cream and strawberries. I’m in love with this one. Wood fired pizza stack laced with nutella and more nutella. An irresistible and divine dessert pizza truly to die for!
Irish coffee cocktail, intense yet a sweet one that’s concoction is truly a perfection.
Fruit mocktail, non alcoholic yet such a refreshing drink.
So guys if @mercadante_pizzeria is within 15km from you, then don’t miss it and order a grand Italian feast today, with wood fired pizza, cocktails, pasta and...
Read moreWent there for dinner last night. They have a spruiker on staff (and always have as long as i've been walking past it), who's job it is to pull people in off the street. We chose to sit outside next to the outdoor heater which was nice, however we had to deal with the spruiker constantly interrupting us, both in conversation and with her spruiking. I understand she was just doing her job, and that they would be struggling to pull people in without that role, however it still ruined our experience. We tried to place our order with the spruiker, seeming as she insisted on standing next to us all night (I cant blame her as we were next to the main heater), however she informed us that if prospective customers came past, that she would need to return to her spruiking, which just seems wrong. The food itself came quickly which was nice, and was actually pretty good, however with the likes of Universal 2 doors up the road, had I not been in a rush to eat, I would of eaten there instead. They also dont split the bill, which was the final nail in the coffin, something a modern restaurant should offer as a service, especially considering we were only a party of 3. They got 1 star for good food, 1 star for quick service and 1 star for the free drinks, however i'll be subtracting two for the ruined mood and poor...
Read moreWe booked a table for four people inside. On arrival, the host repeatedly insisted our booking was for two people and told us we would need to wait. We showed our booking confirmation which clearly stated four people, yet she continued to be dismissive and rude, telling her colleagues we were changing the booking to four. She had a tiny handwritten note that said two, but we had the official confirmation for four. We were made to wait 15 minutes outside in the bitter Melbourne cold before finally being seated at a dirty table inside.
The service unfortunately did not improve from there. Our waiter was energetic and trying to be entertaining, but it felt completely inappropriate considering how the evening had already started. He threw a plate as a joke and showed the women at the table a fake spider, which was not well received. He also brought over plates for his joke but then did not actually give us any, so we were left eating our entrée without plates. We were later served dirty glassware and had to ask for cutlery when the food arrived.
The food itself was good, but the service and complete lack of attention to detail overshadowed it. The host’s attitude in particular made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. This was honestly one of the strangest and most disappointing dinners we’ve had...
