Hey Workers, just a quick note to let you know that last Monday I had one of the worst experiences that I've lived since I came to Australia. After have passed my only day off in the week I thought It would be nice share a beer with some friends, so we decided to go to THE WORKERS CLUB. Once we got there and after some minutes wait, the bouncer told me that THE WORKERS don't like people that use trackies to get in there, so if I would like to go there next time I couldn't wear that kind of clothes, (Which I think is fair), however, he asked for my ID to chek it. When he realized that I was from Colombia his tone changed unexpectedly and started to told me in a rude and quite xenophobic way sarcastic things including phrases as: "I think if you enter here using trackies people could think you came from prison" or "we don't like people like you here". I'm Colombian and I'm very proud of it. I don't have nothing to hide or feel shame about because all that my family and I have got in our lifes are product of our hard and honorable work. After a while we decided to don't get in your place and go to other one. My only sin was wear trackies... While we decide where go to, this man keep the same rude and defiant environment against a couple of guys who was just behind us on the queue and guess why? As me they weren't Australians... I reckon you are free to decide who you want to admit in your place, and it is fine (yet weird in a country as Australia) if you don't like people from other countries in your place. But It would be good if you instruct your staff to save their self the xenophobic thoughts and comments.
Thank for your attention, and peace...
Read moreI went to a gig here and the intimate setting was a definite plus. The small room allowed for an up-close experience with the artist. However, I personally found the space a bit too dark, dank, and claustrophobic. The acoustics were a bit off as well. There was a giant pillar in front of the stage which was a big let down considering how small the venue was. I had to keep moving to the left or right to get a decent view depending on where the artist was standing. The drink selection was surprisingly limited for a pub, especially in the gig room, and the glasses were warm. The toilets were also an issue with some serious design flaws. Not only did they lack privacy with no doors to the separate sections, but they're also situated quite closely behind tables of patrons. The bathroom layout means you'll get to enjoy some uncomfortable eye contact with fellow patrons in the opposite bathroom when washing your hands. Doing a number two in these toilets would be a brave decision, considering the layout and positioning of the bathroom entrance. Nonetheless I enjoyed the night and I would go back again if an artist I really liked...
Read morePlace was cold, even with aircon set to heat. Ordered the Smoked Brisket as the steak was unavailable - at 8pm on a Sunday night ! Brisket was ordered with mash and vegetables rather than chips and salad. Brisket was, to my mind, quite tender but also quite salty as well. The mash and vegetables, on the other hand, were VERY salty. I had finished mine only because I was hungry and believed that if I sent it back, I'd simply get the same back ! Yes, they'd already lost my trust. Friend I was with found it ALL much too salty and couldn't get more than a few mouthfuls in before she had to give up ! When she complained, they gave her a drink of equal value as recompense. Not a better, replacement meal, but an alcoholic beverage ! Apparently she had eaten too much for a refund ! No apology either ! Our table was then ignored for the rest of our time there, to the point of no glasses being cleared nor my empty plate ! A place to definitely NOT return to !! I rarely give such a negative review, but this place definitely deserves a single...
